Salary: *Ordinarily Resident (OR) Basic Annual Salary RWF 5,069,802 to 8,618,659 (FSN-6, steps 1 to 14)
*Not-Ordinary Resident (NOR): USD 35,753 to 52,504 (FP-6 steps 1 to 14) - Final step to be Determined by Washington
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
This trainee level is established to provide the incumbent with a year’s experience in the Consular Assistance functions. Upon successfully completion of 52 weeks as Trainee FSN-6T, incumbent is eligible for promotion to FSN-7.
Performs moderately difficult and responsible work pertaining to the full range of passport, citizenship, and visa services. Maintains consular documents and files and is accountable for controlled consular items. Serves as part-time sub-cashier responsible for accurately collecting and refunding fees for consular services in accordance with specific guidelines using the Automated Cash Register System (ACRS).

QUALIFICATIONS
All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
Completion of Secondary School required.
Minimum of one year of progressively responsible experience in an office setting with work involving the application of regulatory material and public contact, or other closely related experience required.
English level IV reading, writing, speaking; French level IV reading, writing, speaking, and Kinyarwanda level IV reading, writing, speaking required.
A working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and procedures, with assistance from Consul as required.
A good working knowledge of computer systems, including Windows operating system required. Exercise of tact and judgment in dealing with the public required. Ability to research and apply regulations correctly and to know when to refer cases and questions to the Consul required. Level II typing (40 wpm) required.
