Standbic Bank Tanzania Head of Global Market Sales
Main purpose of the job
Overall management and responsibility for Global Markets Sales team within Stanbic Tanzania Global Markets. This entails ensuring a strategic and co-ordinated sales focus on servicing the Global Markets needs of both existing and new business clients as well as managing an exclusive list of corporate clients.
Strategic Focus
- Develops and drives Stanbic Tanzania’s Global Markets sales strategy around growing and servicing clients while ensuring that it is in line with and supports Standard Bank Group’s broader strategy
- Responsibility for the co-ordinated roll-out of the Global Markets sales model within the Global Markets, with the aim of providing a level of service which is of high quality, and which is consistent with the standard of service delivered by other Standard Bank Group treasuries in South Africa and globally
Business Acumen and Market Understanding
- Has a thorough understanding of the strategic business drivers, opportunities, challenges, needs, competition and threats inherent in the environments/business sectors within which clients operate.
- Has insight into local and international trends, developments and benchmarks within the financial sector, banking and specifically Global Markets products and to undertake quarterly competitor analysis.
Client Profitability and Risk Management
- Ensures that the processes, structures, systems and resources required to effectively service existing clients and develop new clients are in place and continuously reviewed, thereby contributing positively to the efficiency and profitability of Stanbic Tanzania Global Markets Division.
- To put measures/systems to monitor business on an ongoing basis and to review periodically with sales team
Relationship Building (Internal & External)
- Establishes, grows and maintains a broad network of strategic stakeholders both internal and external to Stanbic Tanzania and the Group in order to ensure that the correct communication and decision making channels are open and available
- Gains leads and access to strategically influential stakeholders in large corporate, commercial and government organisations in order to introduce them to the benefits of dealing through Stanbic Africa Global Markets and the Group
Service Delivery
- Identify customer needs and facilitate suitable Global Markets products to service their requirements in the most beneficial manner possible.
- Conducting training workshops for internal/external clients to increase awareness of the Global Markets function and products
People Management
- Build a sales team with clear-cut objectives & business focus, train and increase professional competencies and put a clear succession/back up plan in place.

Education Level
- A tertiary qualification with an appropriate business related degree or diploma
Professional Qualifications
- ACI Certification
Skills
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Sales and marketing personality (i.e. people person)
- Good analytical skills to be able to structure complex deals
Knowledge
- An excellent working knowledge of foreign exchange and money markets, and an intermediate understanding of other Global Markets products
- A good understanding of macro economics and current economic trends
- A good appreciation and knowledge of Risk Management, covering Operational Risk, Market Risk and Credit Risk
Experience
- Global Markets and Banking background
- At least 3 years experience in marketing foreign exchange / money market products and services
- Strong networks within the corporate / commercial / government sectors
- Experience in high-level relationship building and maintenance
