Organizational Setting |
The Department of Safeguards (SG) is the organizational hub for the implementation of IAEA safeguards. The IAEA implements nuclear verification activities for some 180 States in accordance with their safeguards agreements. The safeguards activities are undertaken within a dynamic and technically challenging environment including advanced nuclear fuel cycle facilities and complemented by the political diversity of the countries. The Department of Safeguards consists of six Divisions: three Operations Divisions: A, B and C, for the implementation of verification activities around the world; three Technical Divisions: Division of Concepts and Planning, Division of Information Management, and Division of Technical and Scientific Services; as well as two Offices: the Office of Safeguards Analytical Services and the Office of Information and Communication Services. Within the Department of Safeguards, the Office of Information and Communication Systems (SGIS) is the centre of competence for the specification, development and maintenance of information and communication technology (ICT) systems and for the management of all ICT infrastructure and services to support safeguards. In partnership with other organizational entities, SGIS is responsible for planning and implementing an ICT strategy as well as enforcing ICT standards. The Infrastructure Section is responsible for providing secure, reliable, and dependable computing, collaboration, database and communications services to the Department of Safeguards. The Infrastructure Section cooperates with other Sections and Divisions in the Department of Safeguards to deliver IT services at a very high standard. |
Main Purpose |
Reporting to the Team Leader of the Information Systems Team, the Database Administration Assistant oversees day-to-day operations of databases to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of electronic data, structured and unstructured, for the Department of Safeguards. Additionally, the Database Administration Assistant works to ensure the interoperability of systems allowing for the input, storage, manipulation and retrieval through standard database management systems, custom applications, search engines and data integration tools. |
Working Relationships |
The Database Administration Assistant partners internally with the database administration team, systems engineering team, security team, software development teams, architecture team, project managers, and service desk staff to address technical issues reported by customers, and regarding other technical issues and system upgrades. The Database Administration Assistant also partners externally with support vendors to address maintenance and support issues, and with network and security engineers to design and implement secure and reliable systems. |

Remuneration |
The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at €47 536 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance), six weeks' annual vacation, pension plan and health insurance. |
