Information Technology Officer, Zambia

In Zambia WaterAid is working in Lusaka, Southern and Luapula Provinces to help poor people achieve sustainable improvements in their quality of life through improved domestic water supply, sanitation and associated hygiene practices.

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, you will be responsible for the overall planning, management and support to the IT environment in the WaterAid Country Office in Zambia. You will also provide IT support to field offices in Luapula and Southern provinces and to WaterAid partner organizations, as may be required.
Hardware, networking, software, trouble shooting and IT operations and maintenance will be critical activities under your function as you will seek to regularly improve and maintain the IT environment to facilitate effective information collection, secure backup, storage and efficient information retrieval system that will meet the IT needs of WaterAid Zambia through networking and computer systems.
You will administer and implement the ICT infrastructures for WaterAid Zambia, and contribute to WaterAid organizational IT policy with regard to quality standards and technology related planning.
As IT Officer you will be proactive and make recommendations for improvement of IT support as required.
PERSONAL SPECIFICATIONS
Education, Experience and Skills/Person Specification:
- Education: BA/BSc in Computer Sciences or equivalent
- Experience: 6 years of relevant and proven experience
Essential Competencies:
- Sound knowledge of information technology including database
management - Management of ISA2006 (moving to TMG in 2012/13)
- Hardware and software maintenance skills
- Internet and web page design and management
- VM skills or knowledge of ESXi
- LAN administration experience
- Proficiency in computer applications, systems design and maintenance
- Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Firm belief in team work, gender equality, sensitivity to HIV/AIDS
- Commitment to values and working styles of WaterAid in Zambia
- Willingness to continuously update personal IT skills and knowledge
Conditions and benefits
Two years contract will be offered with good chances of renewal depending on performance. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered, dependent on qualifications and experience.
