Abaarso Tech is looking for teachers interested in training the top high school students in a deeply underprivileged section of the world. This young boarding school (now in its 3rd year), based in the Horn of Africa, focuses on math, science and English. In addition to classes, we offer several extra curricular activities such as drama, computer courses and strategy games and a host of sporting opportunities. Our teachers help develop the students both inside and outside of the classroom by spending an enormous amount of time with the students. We stress strong performance character and well-rounded education.
Teachers will be expected to teach approximately 20 hours in the classroom, but teaching preparation, grading, help sessions, office hours, leading clubs and/or sports, helping with student groups, and being involved in other activities with the students or in organization development can push a teacher's work week to 50-70 hours. Because the school is still in its early stages, we expect teachers to be readily adaptable and eager to start new projects.
The following qualifications and experiences are highly desired: - Science degrees - Prior teaching experience - Engineering Work - Prior work or study experience overseas
This position will begin August 2012.
