Rio Tinto has recently acquired control of Riversdale Mining in Mozambique to create Rio Tinto Coal Mozambique. There are currently two major projects underway: the Benga project is due to produce first coal in Q4 of 2011, and the Zambeze project is at studies stage. In addition, more projects are in the pipeline such as the Benga expansion and the Tete East projects.
We require a variety of Environmental professionals for our Benga operation to provide strong support, leadership and technical advice to the operation. You will ensure the Benga site is compliant with all environmental local regulations and Rio Tinto policies and values.
To be successful in any of the below roles you must be fluent in Portuguese and willing to regularly participate in field work, local residents are preferred. This team strongly supports field work and each role offers an attractive mix of office and field based tasks.
Manager Environmental Studies & Projects Approval
· Minimum 10years experience within Environment within mining or similar industry
· Experience with prefeasibility reporting and project approvals
· Previous team management experience is essential
Environmental Specialist
Shared Services x 1 role Coal Chain x 2 roles, Benga Power Plant Studies x 1 role
· Minimum 8years experience in Environment, within a mining, oil & Gas or construction company
· Experience with reporting, liaising with government and managing a small team is essential
Environmental Advisor Shared Services
· Minimum 3 to 5years in an environmental role or supporting environmental teams
· Ability to live and work in Tete
· Holding a previous administration role within a mining, construction or heavy industry organisation is desirable
Environmental Standards & Compliance Officer
· Previous experience supporting and coordinating Environmental compliance
Environmental Studies Advisor
· Minimum 3 to 5years in an environmental role or supporting environmental teams
· Ability to live and work in Tete
· Holding a previous administration role within a mining, construction or heavy industry organisation is desirable
