Post to commence from 1 August 2012
We seek to appoint two full-time Lecturers / Senior Lecturers with relevant expertise in any aspect of Theology and Religious Studies (TRS). You will be an active researcher able to enhance and extend TRS’s strengths working across the intersections of religion and / or theology and major themes in public life. With a view to complementing our existing staff team, we particularly wish to encourage applicants with research expertise in:
- New Testament, ethics and theology / New Testament and society
- religion / theology in global / postcolonial contexts (e.g. Africa, the Americas, the Middle East, South Asia, South-East Asia, China)
- religion and society
- the interaction of religion / theology with politics, ethics or science
- the study of contemporary Judaism, Islam, Christianity, Indian religions, indigenous religions
You will have a record of regular publication recognised as being of the highest standards nationally and internationally, and will make a significant contribution to the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 appropriate to your career stage. You will contribute to a range of teaching and learning across all TRS programmes and at all levels, working to ensure the highest quality student experience. You will be expected to develop a research-led contribution to our MA programmes in Religion / Theology and Public Life and / or Religion / Theology and Global Development. You will be required to take on appropriate academic administrative responsibilities following further discussion with the Deputy Head of School for TRS. With excellent interpersonal skills, you should be able to communicate effectively with students in both small and large groups. A completed PhD, good administrative and time management skills, along with good IT skills, are also essential. Experience of academic leadership, a track record of attracting research funding, and of successful impact/knowledge transfer activities, is desirable, as is the potential to form research collaborations with other disciplines in the School, the Faculty of Arts and the wider University (especially in the social sciences).
