Job Objective: Sales and Marketing Manager handles customer communications and identifies national, regional, and international markets for the introduction of WomenCraft handcrafted products. The Sales Manager is goal oriented and highly motivated to reach targeted markets that will exceed sales targets.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Researches, develops and implements marketing strategies in accordance with WomenCraft’s workplan;

• Identifies and establishes market linkages in regional, national, international markets for WomenCraft’s handcrafted products. Identifies and contacts reliable buyers in retail and wholesale markets and contributes to the launch of WomenCraft’s online store;

• Maximizes WomenCraft exposure by creating marketing materials and messages and utilizing social media as well as traditional marketing strategies to reach potential customers in targeted markets as well as the general public;

• Maintains communication with customers and informs them of new developments within WomenCraft;

• Communicates with Dar es Salaam Sales Representative, analyzing sales reports and providing constructive feedback for sales activities and events;

• Communicates with U.S.-based Volunteer Marketing Representatives, provides feedback on U.S. marketing activities and coordinates U.S. marketing efforts;

• Attends local, regional and international handicraft trade shows to market WomenCraft’s products, develop trade contacts and stay current on the handicraft field;

• Involved with the product development of new and existing product lines;

• Works closely with the Director, Admin/Finance Manager, and Logistics Manager to ensure the entire process from order obtainment to order delivery is smooth, meets the order specifications, and is on time;

• Build the capacity of staff, interns and artisans in sales and marketing strategies and techniques.

Qualifications: University degree in business preferred; experience in sales required; research experience desired; dynamic and highly creative person with effective communication skills; detail oriented; proficiency in word processing, email, and internet research required; experience using Microsoft Publisher or other graphic design applications required. Ability to speak, read and write fluently in English required, ability or interest in speaking/learning Kiswahili preferred.

Job Location and Length: This is a full-time post based in Ngara, Kagera region, Tanzania A one-year renewable contract will be issued.

The Lab Advisor will provide technical support in the planning and implementation of high quality laboratory services required for HIV / AIDS prevention, care and treatment services within facilities supported by ICAP-Columbia University (ICAP) in coordination with the Tanzania Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MoHSW) and ICAP staff in Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the planning and implementation of laboratory activities required for CU-supported HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment program in Tanzania, including baseline assessment and laboratory capacity development at sites in assigned regions.

• Provide technical assistance to facility-level lab personnel, including regular and systematic observation of testing procedures and ongoing level supportive supervision and instruction.

• Provide technical assistance to facility level lab managers, including: establishing routine workflows; developing/refining SOPs, job aids, log books, and referral forms as needed; planning of lab activities to improve tests performance and decrease turnaround time; and developing and implementing an equipment maintenance program.

• Provide technical assistance in specific techniques like: PCR, CD4 Enumeration, HIV Rapid Tests, HIV Genotyping, drug resistance and mutation, hematologic, clinical chemistry and microbiology tests.

• Provide technical assistance on the roll out of the accreditation ISO 15189 for the zone laboratories and for regional and district laboratories with the WHO criteria.

• Provide technical assistance to the MoHSW in evaluation and validation new technologies related to the medical laboratories.

• Work closely with MoHSW, CDC and other implementing partners on the roll out of the laboratory component of the EID program.

• Represent ICAP on laboratory related issues at donors and MoHSW meetings as well as work closely with both the donors and the MoHSW in harmonizing lab services.

• Help implement and monitor efficient documentation of laboratory results at the sites, as well as effective linkage between laboratories and clinical services.

• Other related duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Candidates should hold at least a bachelor degree in Biomedical Sciences with experience of 5 years or a master degree in Medical Biotechnology with at least 2 years experience in a practical setting.

• Candidate must have a large experience in techniques like: PCR, CD4 Enumeration, ELISA, HIV RT, Haematology and Biochemistry.

• A valid certificate to practice as a medical laboratory scientist mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge and experience in the design, implementation and management of laboratory services especially for HIV / AIDS

• Good written and verbal communication skills in English and Kiswahili.

Land O’Lakes International Development is seeking a Chief of Party for our USDA-funded Food for Progress dairy development initiative in Tanzania. The Tanzania program works to improve commercial milk production, processing, marketing, and consumer awareness through interventions from cow to consumer.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating and directing all activities with respect to implementation of Land O’Lakes’ development program in Tanzania, providing general technical guidance and management. This includes assisting farmers and agribusinesses to develop their capacities to produce, process and market products, as well as assisting in the development and strengthening of the dairy industry support systems and related associations in Tanzania. • Ensuring effective planning and achievement of project goals and results targets. • Supervising all Land O’Lakes staff in Tanzania in accordance with good management practices and host country labor laws. • Monitoring all country budgets to ensure that expenditures are within approved budget parameters and that all appropriate financial reporting and regulatory requirements are met. Overseeing the preparation and submission of annual activity-based project budgets as well as monthly and quarterly financial reports as required by Land O’Lakes and donor organizations. • Ensuring close collaboration and coordination with cooperating partners to guarantee smooth implementation of activities and achievement of results as specified in grant agreements. • Initiating, cultivating and maintaining contacts with officials and leaders of host government and donor agencies, non-governmental organizations, institutional partners, cooperatives, and commercial entities in the region to develop new funding opportunities for Land O’Lakes IDD and ensuring that current and future activities are effectively implemented. • Ensuring project activities comply with regulations of Land O’Lakes, USAID and other relevant donors. Overseeing the acquisition and management of office and project property; manage bank accounts as required; and, maintain property and bank accounts.

Required Experience & Education: • Advanced degree in Business Administration, International Development, Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business Management, Animal Science or a related field or equivalent relevant experience. • A minimum of five years or field and technical experience in Africa. • A minimum of five years’ experience in managing development programs in Africa.

Required Competencies & Other Skills: • Proven personnel and financial management experience. • Strong English language skills.

Preferred Experience & Education: • Previous dairy and livestock experience. • Experience living and working in Africa, especially Tanzania.

1. Agri-Business Development Manager

The Agri-Business Development Manager (ADM) will ensure that SAGCOT stimulates, facilitates and develops sustainable commercial agriculture in the Corridor region. The Manager will work closely with the SAGCOT partnership network to identify and develop investment opportunities for public and private investment.
Location: Dar es Salaam

Main functions

  • Facilitate the development of the Corridor, and in particular of the geographical ”clusters” as areas with a critical mass of commercial agriculture, involving small-scale farmers working in collaboration with large-scale operations
  • Identify and help develop opportunities for improved agro-processing and value addition of selected crops
  • Identify investment opportunities for commercial private sector investment
  • Create awareness of the range of financial instruments available to current and/or prospective investors in the corridor

Suitable candidates will have

  • A degree in agriculture, agricultural economics or business management
  • At least 10 years experience of working in agri-business in a developing country setting
  • Project management experience will be an added advantage
  • Proven ability to establish links between different value chain actors
  • Personal initiative and a self-starter, who can work in a fast pace environment, yet have the capacity to work as an effective team member
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and strong spoken Swahili

2. Cluster Development Manager

The Cluster Development Manager (CDM) will facilitate the field-based activities on SAGCOT in specific geographical clusters along the corridor. Working in close collaboration with other projects and programmes, the CDM will work towards an enhanced environment for small-scale and large-scale private sector farming and agri-business development. The CDM’s job is to facilitate the field-based activities of the SAGCOT partners the clusters. The CDM will report to the Agri-Business Development Manager.
Location: Kilombero or Ihemi

Main functions

  • Working with associated programs to develop an effective local Public-Private Partnership for sustainable agricultural growth in the target clusters
  • Support, and instigate if necessary, the coordinated planning of investment in agricultural growth in the Cluster
  • Facilitate the coordination, cooperation and complementarity of small-scale, emergent and large scale agricultural operations in the cluster
  • Facilitate the development of an improved business environment for agricultural growth.

Suitable Candidates will have

  • A degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics or related subject
  • At least 10 years experience of agriculturally focused rural development in Sub-Saharan Africa, with a strong background in practical field-based rural development activities in East Africa. Candidates should based in the Corridor region. Familiarity with this region is an advantage
  • Strong personal communication skills and an ability to build trust with a wide range of local stakeholders (including farmers, traders, local government officials)
  • Planning skills and affinity familiarity with operating with the private sector
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Swahili

3. Finance and Administration Manager

The Finance and Administration Manager will be responsible for the overall financial management and administrative operations of the SAGCOT Centre, ensuring strict adherence to relevant accounting policies and procedures.

Main functions

  • Prepare and manage SAGCOT Centre budget, regular reporting on expenditures, audit and disbursement requests
  • Facilitate SAGCOT Centre fundraising and ensure compliance with funder agreements
  • Oversee administration of the SAGCOT Centre’s Human Resource Administration, Partnership Registration and office infrastructure

Suitable Candidates will have

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 10 years of relevant work experience
  • A minimum of 5 years experience working in a finance role on accounting/financial management of development programs with international, non-profit organizations (larger than $3 million), in a multi-national environment Experience in Tanzania required.
  • Three to five years experience providing administrative support to an international organization, including dealing with good procurement, contracts management, and HR related matters
  • Substantial financial management experience on international donor contracts, rules and regulations, procedural and reporting requirements

4. Relationship Manager

The Relationship Manager will be responsible for managing an existing portfolio of SAGCOT public and private investors as well as increasing the investor base in the corridor. Working in close collaboration with SAGCOT’s Agri-Business Development Manager and complimentary investment programs, the relationship manager will promote SAGCOT’s investment opportunities to a broad range of national and international stakeholders.

Main functions

  • Facilitate the generation and implementation of an investor’s outreach strategy for SAGCOT in conjunction with key institutions and other actors
  • In close collaboration with the Agri-Business Development Manager, maximize the engagement of existing SAGCOT partners and investors in the Corridor
  • Expand SAGCOT’s public and private investor base
  • Generate relevant promotional material and prepare events to create awareness on SAGCOT’s investment opportunities
  • Support the management and expansion of the SAGCOT Partnership

Suitable candidates will have

  • A university degree, preferably in business administration, finance or agribusiness.
  • 10 years of international work experience in a relationship management or business development function, preferably in banking or consultancy
  • Affinity with agricultural development and agribusinesses and knowledgeable on regional investment trends
  • Preferably a strong network amongst companies active in agribusiness and related sectors with investment interest in East Africa
