Job Title: CTS Officer

Country: Kenya

Location: Nairobi

Closing Date: January 27 2012

Purpose of the position:

To help coordinate the running of the commodity tracking system (CTS) and other established food accountability systems at the National Level, Consolidation of reports from the Districts and other stakeholders on timely basis in order to produce timely and accountable reports to donors, assist in the Consolidation Shipment and Loss Claim Registers, Loss Files to the Donors and reviewing files from the field offices.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • A university degree in computer science or equivalent qualification.
  • Have at least 1-2 years of experience in CTS work.
  • Have strong computer skills with fluent working knowledge of Ms Access, Ms Excel and Ms Word.
  • Must be ready to work long hours in harsh stressful environment and security risk areas.
  • Honest, hardworking and God fearing with ability to conduct oneself in line with Christian values and understanding of World Vision Mission Statement.
  • Must be team player and have good inspection skills.
  • Should be a problem solver and have good analytical skills

Job Title: Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer

Country: Kenya

Location: Branch 2

Closing Date: January 27 2012

Description: To provide leadership in monitoring, evaluation and learning activities in the project and other governance and advocacy initiatives within the Branch and WVK.

Purpose of the Position: As part of the team for the Education Accountability Project, the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Officer (Governance and Advocacy) will provide leadership in monitoring, evaluation and learning activities in the project and other governance and advocacy initiatives within the Branch and WVK.

In order to perform this role effectively, the M, E & L Officer must be able to effectively lead processes and interventions that will contribute to effective monitoring of project interventions, functional learning and documentation initiatives and increased accountability to project beneficiaries, partners and funding donor agencies.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • A minimum of first degree in any of the Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Significant experience of monitoring and reporting of advocacy and governance projects
  • Ability to lead in complex and challenging environments
  • Experience in documenting project interventions and facilitating learning across and within different platforms – community, organization and external.
  • Direct experience in governance and advocacy projects will be an added advantage.
  • Creativity and innovative thinking
  • Experience in leading baseline surveys , evaluations and policy research in governance and advocacy issues.
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization
  • Strategic thinking and ability to lead on strategic planning with others
  • Experience of working in a multi and cross-cultural environment
  • Working knowledge of English and Swahili languages.

Job Title: Education Advocacy Officer

Country: Kenya

Location: Sub-Branch (Central Rift and Nairobi)

Description: To lead and facilitate the delivery of Education Accountability project by effectively leading processes and interventions that will contribute to strengthened school governance systems, functional citizen oversight mechanisms at the schools and increased accountability in management of public school funds

Purpose of the Position: To lead and facilitate the delivery of Education Accountability Project as per project goal, outcomes and outputs.

In order to perform this role effectively, the Education Advocacy Officer must be able to effectively lead processes and interventions that will contribute to strengthened school governance systems, functional citizen oversight mechanisms at the schools and increased accountability in management of public school funds.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • A minimum of first degree in any of the Social Sciences or equivalent
  • Significant experience on social accountability, working with children, partners and community advocacy groups, and government officers at the local level etc
  • Ability to lead in complex and challenging environments
  • Significant experience in facilitating community or citizen groups in participation in governance , public policy and legislative processes
  • Significant experience in coalition building, networking and ability to rally coalitions and networks to take positions on specific policy issues
  • Creativity and innovative thinking
  • Experience in capacity building, community empowerment, stakeholder engagement and production of IEC materials with emphasis on education policy and advocacy issues
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization
  • Knowledgeable in relevant education policies and legal instruments at the national and local levels
  • Strategic thinking and ability to lead on strategic planning with others
  • Experience of working in a multi and cross-cultural environment
  • Comprehensive experience in campaigning and/or communications
  • Working knowledge of English and Swahili languages.

Job Title: Senior P & C Officer

Country: Kenya

Location: Nairobi

Closing Date: January 27 2012

Job Purpose: To lead in strategic recruitment planning, create and administer an objective, efficient and effective recruitment system, administer employment contracts, ensuring that renewals and terminations are carried as per policy, and coordinate changes in employment records in order to advise payroll according.

Accountable for the following:
  • To lead in strategic recruitment planning, ensuring that managers include staffing costs in proposals, plans and budgets.
  • To create and administer an objective, efficient and effective recruitment system.
  • To create, maintain and update employment records.
  • To administer employment contracts, ensuring that renewals and terminations are carried as per policy.
  • To coordinate changes in employment records and advise payroll according.
  • To ensure all WVK job descriptions and upload them on prescribed web portals or/and servers.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:
  • Must have a university degree and a diploma in Human resources Management
  • Requires a high level of organizational skills
  • Three years experience in HR recruitment and administrative roles.
  • Must have a through knowledge of office systems, including computer applications.
  • Must be aware and functional in cross-cultural environment.
  • Needs good communications and inter-personal skills.
  • Needs excellent English language skills, both oral and written.

Job Title: Building & Construction Officer

Country: Kenya

Location: Bartabwa IPA

Closing Date: January 27 2012

Description: To supervise and ensure the successful implementation of all building and construction works and related activities being implemented by WVK, ensuring proper civil engineering, contracting and construction guidelines are following with all stakeholders’ participation in enhancing good engineering practices.

Purpose of the position:


To supervise and ensure the successful implementation of all building and construction works and related activities being implemented by WVK.

Ensuring proper civil engineering, contracting & construction guidelines are followed with all stakeholders’ participation in enhancing good engineering practices that will result to and directly contribute to the attainment of child well being outcomes.

Specifically, the incumbent will undertake capacity building of staff, supervise implementation of structural engineering works and support efforts to mobilize appropriate resources.

Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
  • The holder of this position must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree or Higher National Diploma in a relevant field from a recognized University preferably in Civil Engineering or Building & Construction;
  • They must have a minimum of 3 years experience in site works with regards to the designing, planning, implementation, supervising and reporting on integrated development works in building and construction;
  • The holder must have a wide experience in constructions and contracts management;
  • The holder of this position must be a results orientated leader who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands and;
  • He /she must also have ample experience in public relations and be a strong team player.
  • Knowledge and application of auto/arch CAD and GIS will be an advantage.
