The primary goal of the Rwanda Integrated Water Security Program (RIWSP) is to improve the sustainable management of water quantity and quality to positively impact human health (WASH), food security and resilience to climate change for vulnerable rural populations in targeted river catchments in Rwanda. The overall program is rooted on an Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach. Multiple Uses Services (MUS) is a user oriented approach to water service delivery focusing on people’s multiple domestic and productive water needs. The MUS approach delivers water for drinking and other domestic uses and for priority productive uses such as small scale irrigated horticulture or livestock enterprises. The goal of the MUS component in the RIWSP Program is to introduce economically, technically and socially viable multiple use water services that enable poor rural households in Rwanda to achieve sustainable improvements in access to water, health and livelihoods,

Livelihoods / Private sector coordinator (1)
Tasks:
- Facilitate development of the market chain supply of relevant as appropriate water related technology and services ( such as treadle and rope pumps, gravity schemes, water filters and other technologies through technical and business training working in partnership with relevant ministries, districts, communities and private sector.
- Promote sustainable livelihoods activities related to enhance the impacts associated with increased water supply (agriculture, horticulture, livestock).
- Identify, evaluate and showcase innovative technologies for small scale irrigation.
- Catalyze a supportive environment for MUS learning, replication, and scale up in Rwanda through outreach, education and multi stakeholder MUS learning workshops and participating in established local, district and national fora.
Qualification and experience:
- Master’s degree with at least 5 years working experience or Bachelor’s Degree with at least 8 years of professional experience in a field related to Agronomy, livelihoods, food security, rural or community development.
- Knowledge of food security issues and ‘value chains’.
- Knowledge of rural project and program management approaches.
- Proven experience in working with and supervising teams.
- Fluent in Kinyarwanda and in English and working French.
- Having worked in a USAID funded project is a plus.
