African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine Barrick Africa seeks to appoint an experienced Underground Hydro Carbon Management (HCM) Supervisor. Being part of the maintenance and engineering team, the successful person will report directly to the Reliability Superintendent.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Perform field level risk assessments
• Supervise the maintenance and installation of all HCM equipment, as well as stationary installations aiming to reduce unplanned maintenance and optimise availability at the lowest total ownership cost
• Identify and analyse premature component / equipment failure utilising root cause Tap root analysis
• Complete required testing and safety checks on specified equipment as required
• Assist in the budgeting and control of maintenance costs
• Assist if required, with breakdowns and complete all necessary fault finding in a safe and diligent manner
• Comply with all statutory and legislative requirements
• Ensure adherence to all safety, health and environmental procedures and guidelines
• Provide appropriate on-the-job training and mentoring to less experience personnel
• Demonstrate by example a high level of housekeeping and environmental awareness with an emphasis on hydrocarbon disposal and management
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES
Education Requirements:
• Completion of a matric certificate
• A diesel mechanic trade certificate, from a recognised and authorised institution
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years post diesel mechanical apprenticeship experience
• Complete understanding of diesel engine construction, maintenance and operation
• Conversant with hydraulic system construction and operation
• Conversant with storage of lubricants and fuel – handling and dispensing procedures
• Conversant with greasing principles of mining machinery
• Knowledge of fuel and grease pump operation and basic repairs
• Experience as a mobile maintenance artisan, in a production industry environment
• Experience of underground mobile mining equipment & operations
• Experienced in skills transfer and team development, in a cross cultural environment
• Previous tribology experience advantageous
