TERMS OF REFER ENCE FO R INTERNET MARKETING OFFICER
Reports to: Direct or, Informa tion & Networking Division Based at: COMES A Secretariat, Lusaka, Zambia
JO B DESCRIPTION SU MMARY
The Internet Mark eting Offic r will be responsible for the coor dination of all online marketing activities of the CO MESA Sec retariat; se arch engine optimizati on, affiliate progra m and email marketing . Will ensure marketin g activities are in compliance with
Government regul ations; deve lop various marketing concepts, objectives, materials,
adverti sements, pr ograms, pre ss releases, and other special eve nts approved by senior
manage ment. Provide guidanc e and coor dinate implementation efforts wit h respect to the installation of new or existing products and services.
The Internet Mark eting Offic r will work closely with the PR U nit on matters relating to public r elations and media co ntacts, advertising, and certain bu siness development act ivities
that pro mote the s irit, philos ophy, dedication, and general direction of the COMESA
Secretariat.
RESP NSIBILI IES
1. Ensure COMESA web sites are op timised to be accessed , indexed and ranked by
search engines.
2. Compile ke ywords in-line with what the target audience is searchin g for and i mprove
the site performance. Will also analyse the c ompetitors’ keywords.
3. Give expert opinion o n website u sability rev iew by giving a detailed audit of the
COMESA websites to ensure users can easil y navigate through the site
4. Provide in-depth traffic analysis reports on user behavio ur on the COMESA websites
using data from weblogs, current analytics to ol or implementing G oogle analy tics.
5. Support the organisation’s archive function b y archiving relevant m arketing material.
6. Assist with the implem entation of the wider COMESA Secretariat marketing s trategy
with specific objective s and targets as agreed .
7. Take responsibility fo r originatin g and planning campaigns in conj unction with the
PR unit.
8. Develop promotional opportunities and ideas from conception through to delivery.
9. Supply sufficient information to the Director of Information & Networking to enable effective budgetary control of specific areas of activity.
10. Assist with the development and implementation of company’s audience development objectives.
11. Maintain liaison with external and internal suppliers, assisting in commissioning and delivery of marketing material.
12. Provide accurate and creative copy writing and proof reading skills manager and working to pre-agreed deadlines.
13. Ensure that all printed promotional material is distributed effectively throughout organisation’s departments including posters and leaflets.
QUALIFICATIONS
• B.Com, BA or BSc, ideally with emphasis in communications, marketing, advertising, computer science, or related field
• Deep knowledge and interest in SEO, SEM, blogs, and business analytics
• Strong understanding of search engine-friendly web design and ability to make critical design and technical recommendations
• 2+ years of internet marketing experience preferred
• Experience working with small/medium businesses
• Must have a proven track record of delivering results through ethical search engine optimization techniques
• Excellent presentation, verbal, and writing skills are required
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and resources
• Attention to detail
CONTRACT PERIOD: Three months
PAYMENT: Lump sum of US$ 12,000 ($4,000 per month to be paid against attainment of agreed deliverables.
EXPECTED COMMENCEMENT DATE: 1st August 2011
