The Child Survival and Health Grant Program is designed to find innovative solutions that address the most critical barriers to improving and scaling-up community-oriented delivery and use of integrated, high impact interventions that prevent or treat the major causes of maternal, newborn, and child mortality and malnutrition. Through operations research, the program will introduce, test, and facilitate the scale-up of bold, new ideas in health service delivery and use, particularly at the primary health care and community levels. The program will strengthen local health and community systems while working in close coordination with the Zambian Ministry of Health and other local partners.
The Field Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring clear coordination with the Child Survival and Health Grant Program technical and management leadership at PATH and USAID. The Field Project Manager’s specific responsibilities will include:
- Leading the overall program and achieving its goals;
- Developing work plans, budgets, timelines and deliverables;
- Maintaining critical relationships with the Zambian Ministry of Health and other local partners;
- Serving as the day-to-day liaison with the USAID Zambia mission team for child health
- Ensuring technical coordination with the Child Survival Headquarters Technical Backstop;
- Supervising the in-country Monitoring and Evaluation Coordinator;
- Coordinating with the midterm and final evaluation consultant;
- Coordinating follow up on technical guidance from the Maternal and Child Health Integrated Program
- Coordinating project report writing for USAID and PATH
- Ensures compliance with USAID and PATH policies and procedures
- Liaises with research approval committees at PATH, the Zambian government and the US Government.
- Oversee and monitor budget to ensure sound financial management of resources made available to the project by USAID.
- Ensure that work plans, budgets, monthly reports, program monitoring and evaluation and other program reports are completed on time.
- Master’s degree in public health or relevant discipline and at least 10 years of demonstrated experience in designing, implementing, and managing public health programs focused on maternal, newborn, and child health or an appropriate combination of education and demonstrable experience.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; very strong writing skills
- Good knowledge of computer management and application
- Relevant experience in Zambia strongly preferred; experience in Southern Africa essential.
