1. THE LAW SCHOOL OF TANZANIA
The Law School of Tanzania is a public institution established by an Act of Parliament, Cap.425, to provide practical legal training for law graduates aspiring to become legal practitioners.
1.1 ASSISTANT LECTURER – 2 POSITIONS
REPORTS TO: HEAD – PRACTICAL LEGAL TRAINING
1.1.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
• Assists in teaching assigned classes as deemed appropriate by the Course
Coordinator;
• Assists in the management of tutorial groups;
• Makes himself or herself accessible to students and other academic staff for academic consultation;
• Maintains and adheres to teaching schedule;
• Complies with established procedures and deadlines for determining, reporting and reviewing the grades of his or her students.
• Implement students assessments as determined by the Course Coordinator;
• Participates in the processing of examination results;
• Engages in research, consultancy and development work as appropriate;
• Promotes scholarships in the area of Practical Legal Education;
• Engages in publication of research output, articles, manuscripts and books and to deposit such publications with the Head of Practical Training and School Library;
• Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements;
• Participates in appropriate activities necessary to the development of the Section and the School;
• Carries out any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
1.1.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• A holder of at least a 2nd Class, Upper Division L.L.B Degree;
• An Advocate or a person qualified to be an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania; or a person who has served as a judicial Officer, State Attorney or Legal Officer.
• One (1) year experience in Legal Practice;
• Experience in providing instructions in academic and professional programmes;
• Ability to relate to students and other members of staff including problem management skills;
• Proven ability to implement practical training programmes.
1.1.4 RENUMERATION:
Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Public Higher Learning Institutions Salary Scales – PHTS 12 – 13.
1.2 LECTURER – 2 POSITIONS
REPORTS TO: HEAD – PRACTICAL LEGAL TRAINING
1.2.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Coordinates assigned courses if necessary
• Teaches assigned classes as deemed appropriate by the Course Coordinator
• Prepares teaching materials and submit for approval by the Department.
• Managers tutorial groups as approved by the course coordinator;
• Participates in the development, preparation and modification of the subject outlines, based on the approved syllabus;
• Makes himself or herself accessible to students and other academic staff for academic consultation;
• Maintain and adheres to teaching schedule;
• Complies with established procedures and deadlines for determining, reporting and reviewing the grades of his or her students;
• Implement students assessments as determined by the course coordinator;
• Arranges regular and appropriate evaluation of the course as approved by the course coordinator;
• Participates in the marking and grading of examinations and processing of examination results;
• Engages in research, consultancy and development work as appropriate;
• Participates in committees appropriate to course and meetings convened by management;
• Promotes scholarships in the area of Practical Legal Education;
• Engages in publication of research output articles, manuscripts and books and to deposit such publications with the Head of Practical Training and School Library;
• Participates in the development, implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements;
• Participates in appropriate activities necessary to the development of the Section and the School;
• Carries out any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
1.2.3 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERINCE:
• A holder of at least a 2nd Class, Upper Division L.L.B Degree. Possession of LL.M Degree will be an added advantage.
• Senior Advocate or a person qualified to be a Senior Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, or a person who has served as a Senior Judicial Officer, State Attorney or Legal Officer;
• Six (6) years experience in legal practice
• Experience in providing instructions in academic and professional programmes;
• Ability to relate to students and other members of staff including problem management skills;
• Proven ability to implement practical training programmes
1.2.4 RENUMERATION:
Attractive remuneration package in accordance with the Public Higher Learning Institutions Salary Scales – PHTS 15-16.
1.3 SENIOR LECTURER – 2 POSITIONS
REPORTS TO: HEAD – PRACTICAL LEGAL TRAINING
1.3.1 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Teaches assigned classes as deemed appropriate by the Practical Legal Training Department;
• Prepares teaching materials;
• Manages tutorial groups and allocates various topics
• Participates in the development, preparation and modification of the subject outlines, based on the approved syllabus;
• Informs students adequately regarding course formats, assignments and methods of evaluation,
• Organizes and liaises with the Head of Practical training about assessment items, such as examination and tests, and arrange marking of all assessment items;
• Provides advice or counseling to students on maters related to the course;
• Liaises with the Head of Practical Training regarding timetabling;
• Carries out assessment, monitoring and evaluation of examination work, and providing an academic and consultative support to students in their learning activities;
• Engages in publications with the Head of Practical Training and School Library;
• Participates in the development implementation and maintenance of academic quality assurance arrangements;
• Participates in appropriate activities necessary to the development of the Section and the School;
• Directs and Supervises the work of lecturers under him or her and takes academic and professional responsibility for the academic standards of their work.
• Carries out any other duty as may be assigned from time to time.
1.3.2 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERINCE:
• A holder of at least a 2nd Class, Upper Division LL.B Degree. Possession of LL.M Degree will be an added advantage.
• Senior Advocate or a person qualified to be a Senior Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania, or a person who has served as a Senior Judicial Officer, State Attorney or Legal Officer;
• Experience in providing instructions in academic and professional programmes will be highly desirable;
• Ability to relate to students and other members of staff including problem management skills;

1.3.3 RENUMERATION:
