Kariakoo Market Corporation is an autonomous Government Institution established under the Kariakoo Market Corporation Act no 36 of 1974 (Revised by the Act No 16 of 1985, to manage and control the Kariakoo Market and establish and manage other markets in the City of Dar es Salaam.

Administratively the Kariakoo Market Corporation reports to the President’s office Regional Administration and Local Government.

Kariakoo Markets Corporation invites applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill the
following vacant positions:-

1. Assistant Trade Officer II -2 posts

Minimum qualifications are Certificate of Secondary Education and Diploma in Business
Administration, statistics, economics or equivalent.
Duties and responsibilities
 Tallying goods entering the market
 Keeps records of all goods received in the market
 Prepares daily summary reports of goods received
 Ensure and controls proper passage of goods into the market
 Reconciles business disputes between traders and farmers
 Accounts for the goods received to cashier
 Control quality of goods.

2. Assistant Accountant- I post

Minimum qualification, Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma in, Accountancy
Registration with NBAA is a must. Preferred CPA ( T ) holder or Intermediate stage of CPA ( T ).
Duties and Responsibilities.
 Prepare payment vouchers.
 Balance cash/Deposit slip in hand with amount receipted on daily basis or the amount
of petty cash drawn with the amount of petty cash vouchers paid.
 Receives and effects cash payments.
 Supervises cashiers
 Keeps financial records e.g. vouchers receipts invoices etc
 Prepares staff salaries every month.
 Prepare and pays all statutory deductions (PPF, NHIF,WCF etc)
 Prepares bank reconciliations.
 Maintains Journal Vouchers and receipts.
 Maintains staff loan records.

3 Internal Auditor - I post

Minimum qualification is Bachelor degree or Advance diploma in Accounting or Finance or
Possession of CPA (T) ACCA or equivalent. Registered member to the board of Accountancy
Duties and Responsibilities:
 Assists in the preparation of audit unit work program and calendar for audit
 Conduct internal audit works as assigned by head of unit
 Assist in preparation and updating of internal Audit plans and programs
 Prepares internal audit working paper files and draft audit reports for each assignment
 Conduct financial operation performance and value for money audit.
 Audits business dealings to determine compliance with the corporation policy rules,
and regulations.
 Prepares draft internal audit reports for Chief Internal Auditor.
 Performs such other duties as will be assigned by the Chief Internal Auditor.
4. Senior Engineer -1 post
Minimum qualification is Bachelor degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering, three
years working experience and Registered with ERB as an Engineer.
Duties and Responsibility.
 Supervises junior Technicians in the section.
 Prepare Schedule for the daily routine
 Ensure a timely maintenance of heavy machines and other equipments.
 Provides a timely maintenance of heavy machines and other equipments
 Prepares daily reports and presents to the management.
 Reports daily weekly and monthly maintenance activities carried out in the market.
 Performs such duties as may be assigned by head of section.

5. Senior ICT Analyst- I post

Minimum qualification: Bachelor degree or Advanced Diploma in Computer Sciences, Business
Information Systems or equivalent from any reputable institution, three years working
Duties and Responsibilities.
 Manage information technology and computer systems in the corporation.
 Plan ,Organize, Control ,Evaluate and Coordinate IT and electronic data operation
 Ensure security of data, network access and backup system.
 Advises on purchasing of ICT appliances.
 Performs monitoring and review of system performance
 Design, develop, implement and coordinate IT systems in the corporation
 Develops and improves service delivery in line with the corporation strategies on the use
of ICT system.
 Troubleshoots and solves ICT incidents and problems
 Develops and improve ICT skills.
 Develops technology and practice and proactively promotes charges to improve ICT
services in the corporation.

6. Assistant Health officer I - 1post

Minimum qualifications and experience Bachelor degree in Public Health, Environment or
equivalent from any reputable institution. Computer literate.
Duties and responsibilities
 Supervises all duties related to public health.
 Controls and administer quality of goods entering the market
 Ensures that the market environment all the time is clean
 Assists the health and safety manager on departmental budget preparation.
 Ensures that the contract performs well and the litter is empted accordingly
 Performs such other duties as will be assigned by Head of Department.
7. Personal Secretary -3posts
Minimum qualification and experience: Certificate of Secondary education (Form IV or VI)
Plus a Diploma in secretarial studies from any recognized institution.
Duties and Responsibilities
 Types both Open and confidential letters/matters
 Answer telephone calls and intercom, giving information to callers or routing to
appropriate officials
 Drafts letters of simple routine nature.
 Relays oral messages and instructions from executive to subordinates.
 Coordinates all office needs and requirements.
 Takes proper care of facilities equipments and documents
 Assumes responsibility for ensuring that there is adequate efficiency in the day
operation of office functions e.g. Supply of stationery, cleanliness, decorum, dispatch,
and receipt of mail messenger services and other related functions.
 Performs such other duties as may be assignment by the supervisor.

8. Driver Cum Messenger - 1post

Minimum qualifications and experience:
Must possess Certificate of Secondary Education (IV or VI)
Clean and valid class “C” driving license, with minimum three years working experience.
Trade test Grade I in motor vehicle driving from recognized institution such as NIT or VETA.
Duties and Responsibilities.
 Drives properly corporation vehicles and motorcycles
 Ensuring that vehicle, motor vehicle assigned is parked in safe place
 Maintains and record movements of the vehicles in the log boot.
 Ensure that the vehicle is well maintained and kept in good running condition.
 Collective and dispatching outgoing and incoming emails.
 Ensures availability of vehicle equipment and tools every time
 Besides driving duties he/she will perform basic office related tasks such as filling
documents, photocopying, delivery and collection of various items.
 Performs any other duty as may be assigned by his/her supervisor.
