The program helps community organizations enhance their ability to provide vulnerable children and their families with comprehensive, sustainable care and support. Children receive services that include educational support, vocational training, community health insurance, psychosocial support, and life skills training, while caregivers participate in programs that help them improve the family`s nutrition, food security, and savings and livelihood.
Job Title: Technical Officer - OVC - Dar es Salaam
Responsibilities
• Responsible for coordination of OVC care, support and protection activities in the region with a focus on HIV related services.
• Provides supportive supervision to sub-grantees to ensure smooth implementation of agreed plans, and networking with District Social Welfare Officers (DSWO) and other stakeholders.
• Provides technical guidance to sub-grantees.
• Ensures smooth implementation of national standards, policies and guidelines on OVC care and support.
• Strengthens the monitoring and information management capacity of sub grantees.
• Facilitates sub grantees to ensure the use and integration of OVC activities into existing structures such as MVCC and LGAs.
• Organizes and facilitate trainings for sub grantees and district councils officials as necessary.
Requirements
• BS/BA in Social Sciences, health or statistics or related field.
• 3 years` relevant experience which includes identification of HIV+ children and provision of HIV related services to OVC.
• Sound knowledge of working with sub grantees/local implementing partners and councils.
• Experience in coordinating implementation of effective bi-directional referrals between health facilities and community based interventions.
• Knowledge of national and international indicators related to MVC.
• Experience on good skills of a trainer or mentor.
• Experience in planning and facilitating trainings.
• Solid communication skills, both oral and written, in English and Swahili.
• Computer skills necessary for reporting.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.
• International NGO experience will be an added advantage.
