Amref Health Africa has received funding from A&O foundation based in UK to support a project focusing on SRHR. The project also aims at improving sexual reproductive health services among youth in Meatu District. The project is named ‘Afya Kwa Vijana and will be implemented in Meatu District in Simiyu Region for three years from January 2015 to December 2017.
Amref Health Africa is therefore seeking to recruit highly qualified, experienced and motivated individual for the following positions based in Meatu.
1. PROJECT MANAGER
REPORTS TO: PROGRAMME MANAGER
DUTY STATION : MWANHUZI –MEATU
JOB OBJECTIVES:
Direct strategic technical assistant to the project and other implementing partners, under technical support of the programme manager- within Amref Health Africa implementation team in line with the National Sexual Reproductive Health Rights’ policy, guidelines and standards
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
• Team up and work with project officers, program manager, and District teams and ground partners to build up a workable and scalable model for the Sexual Reproductive Health and rights project.
• Manage technical staff performance and development in focusing on results and to actively participate in results management in line with agreed results-based framework for the project
• Coordinate the team for timely compilation of technical information and projects reports for prompt reports submission to the programme manager.
• Coordinate and execute events under the office including meetings, workshops and gatherings related to project activities from the office as required
• Promote teamwork and encourage project teams and partners in owning the program and ensure quality provision of SRHR services through spearheading in monitoring the quality SRHR services delivery and documenting lessons for disseminating knowledge and best practices to the public.
• Take lead in performing in-depth project analysis and research/operation research for understanding and improving youth sexual reproductive health rights services in the community.
• In liaison with programme manager and other technical staff within Amref Health Africa, actively participate in programme development through idea notes development, proposal and manuscripts writing in line with Amref Health Africa strategic approaches.
• Lead technical teams in focusing on results and to actively participate in results management in line with agreed results-based framework for the project.
• Support the programme manager in adhering to operational regulations and the set standards for project management and financial procedures.
• Guide technical staff in identification and addressing health systems gaps and challenges among community sexual reproductive health rights structures that impact into communities’ wellbeing.
• Spearhead the understanding, supporting and promoting the organization governance objectives, policies and procedures in the project implementation area.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE
• Degree in public health (Postgraduate degree will be an added advantage), medicine, nursing, social sciences, or related.
• Three (3) or more years of experience in implementing Sexual Reproductive health and right project.
• Experience in project design, planning and management skills including analytical skills on M & E of project performance.
2. PROJECT OFFICER - AFYA KWA VIJANA (SRHR)
REPORTS TO: - PROJECT MANAGER
DUTY STATION : MWANHUZI –MEATU
JOB OBJECTIVE
To provide required quality technical skills and guidance to partners and stakeholders in provision of friendly SRHR services in health facilities and out-reach services through trainings, orientation, meetings, advocacy forums, networking and day to day project field activities in line with the National Sexual Reproductive Health Rights’ policy, guidelines and standards
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
• Spearheaded SRHR trainings and other capacity building activities for health service providers of different cadres in the District Council as required by the Project Implementation Plan.
• Work with Project Manager in ensuring adequate support is provided to the Council Health Management Teams to ensure comprehensive delivery of essential SRHR package.
• Deploy gender and cultural sensitive and rights-based approaches to promote community awareness on supporting Sexual Reproductive health service delivery through coordination of community sensitization, advocacy and mobilizations campaigns with communities, partners and stakeholders.
• Organize quarterly review meetings with CHMT, community leaders and health facility leaders, stakeholders and partners for informed decision making on Sexual Reproductive Health Rights.
• Actively participate in District council health planning meetings, supervisory and monitoring activities by providing day-to-day technical support with the focus on SRHR.
• Work closely with District Medical Officer and RCH coordinator in establishing and coordinating the defined SRHR services supported by the project.
• Coordinate and execute events under the office including meetings, workshops and gatherings related to project activities from the office as required
• Participates in developing strategic and annual work plans for the project
• Participate timely in compilation of technical information and projects reports for prompt reports submission to the project manager, documentation and dissemination of good practices and lessons learned from the field
• Work closely with community committees, council health management team, influential people in the communities and local leaders, to ensure smooth implementation of project activities
• Implementing activities according to approved budget and within Government and donor regulations
• Actively participate in project analysis and research/operation research for understanding and improving youth sexual reproductive health and rights services in the community
QUALIFICATION & QUALIFICATIONS:-
• Basic degree in social science, medicine, public health or related field
• Two or more years of experience in implementing Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights interventions
• Experience in gender and cultural sensitive and rights-based approaches to promote community awareness on supporting Sexual Reproductive health service delivery
• Experience working with youth and vulnerable groups will be an asset
3. DRIVER
REPORTS TO: - PROJECT MANAGER
DUTY STATIONS: - MEATU
JOB OBJECTIVES
To execute required quality technical skills in driving the of project Motor vehicle by supporting the project team, partners and stakeholders during the project implementation activities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:-
• Driving assigned vehicle while ferrying staff or assets on official work.
• Maintaining cleanness of assigned vehicles.
• Maintaining up-to- date and accurate records in the vehicle work ticket.
• Safeguarding the vehicle and all of its contents in his/her custody.
• Ensure that the assigned vehicle is well serviced and in good mechanical order.
• Good track record, smart and well groomed.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
• O level certificate
• Mechanical training
• A valid Class C Clean Driving License
• At least 4 years driving experience
• Competence certificate from either VETA or NIT
• Mature and courteous
