The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, non-denominational, development agency promoting creative and
effective solutions to problems that impede social and economic development. AKF has initiated the Strengthening Education Systems in East Africa (SESEA), a project embedded within a wider multi-input area development programme, Coastal Rural Support Programme Tanzania (CRSPT),which works in rural economic development, education, health and civil society to improve the quality of life and well-being of people living in Mtwara and Lindi Regions. Reporting to the CRSPT Programme Director, the Programme Manager, based in Lindi, will lead the successful
implementation of SESEAand any other education activities that subsequently emerge. The selected candidate, as part of a strong CRSPTmanagement team, will be directly responsible for the remote management of teams and project activity work plans to ensure successful and timely programmatic implementation and reports and coordinate government, AKDN and CSO relations.

Specific responsibilities include:
- Effectively lead, manage, and mentor the education sector team
- Guide and manage annual work planning, budgeting, reporting and implementation of SESEA
- Collaborate with ward, district and regional education offices for implementation of SESEA
- Oversee the implementation of performance monitodng framework (PMF) of SESEAand establish a regular mechanism of tracking progress
- Identify implementation challenges and recommend solutions, and develop and maintain excellent, cooperative relationships with all partners;
- Develop synergies of education activities with SESEApartners and other CRSPTlntervention
Qualifications/Experience:
- A post-graduate degree, preferably in education or social development, with practical experience in programme/project management.
- A minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3 years of direct experience in managing a project or programme;
- Extensive knowledge of the Tanzanian education sector;
- Familiarity with grant management, including preparation and monitoring of budgets;
- Demonstrated capacity to write results-based and donor reports;
- Knowledge ofTanzanian context – government administration, legal and fiscal policy etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead a team
- Excellent written and verbal English and Kiswahili language skills.
- Willingness to work in Lindi, Tanzania
