The King County Executive - Office of Performance, Strategy and Budget seeks one graduate student intern to assist with planning and implementation of the public engagement component of its King County Strategic Plan update (www.kingcounty.gov/strategicplan). The overall project is an effort to engage both internal and external stakeholders in a dynamic conversation about the plan and how it needs to evolve for the next planning period (2015-2019). The intern will assist in planning for each component of the engagement (online engagement tools, social media, focus groups, key stakeholder meetings and public meetings) and will participate in on-going design and implementation of the community engagement program. Interns receive a free bus pass. There is no additional benefit package.

WHO MAY APPLY: This position is open to students currently enrolled and continuing in the fall of 2013 in full time status at an accredited university/college with coursework in the described areas. Proof of full time enrollment status is required.
WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule will be Monday-Friday. The workweek will consist of a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 20 hours. This internship is for the fall term and expected to last until the end of December 2013.

REQUIREMENTS FOR POSITION: Highly organized, ability to juggle multiple tasks in a short timeframe, ability to write for different audiences and communication vehicles, strong facilitation experience, data analysis, interest in equity, social justice, and citizen engagement. Experience with Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
