Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, the City of Mountain View is home to many nationally and internationally known corporations including major biotech, life-sciences, and technology companies. The newly created CIO position will join a leadership team committed to innovation, creativity, and transforming local government through leading ideas and practices. Reporting to the City Manager, the CIO will be seen as the technology advisor working across the organization to ensure a forward-thinking and strategic approach to technology in support of all municipal business units. As the Department Director, the CIO will oversee a staff of 14 employees in planning, maintaining, and managing the City's information systems and communications networks. The ideal candidate will have a unique blend of people skills and technological expertise. Candidates must thrive in an environment that promotes a collaborative approach to problem solving as well as encouraging openness and transparency. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems engineering, or a related field is required; MBA or MCS is highly desired. This position requires five years responsible experience in information technology, three years of which must have been at a supervisory or management level. The salary range for the CIO is $132,816 to $193,834 DOQ. The City also offers an executive benefit package including CalPERS Retirement.
