STRUCTURED TRADE AND COMMODITY FINANCE OFFICER


Reporting to the Director of Trade Finance Department, the Structured Trade and Commodity Finance Officer is responsible for identifying and preparing trade and structured trade finance facilities for financing by the Bank in accordance with approved guidelines. 
Key Responsibilities
1. Origination and execution of structured trade finance transactions in the COMESA region;
2. Assumes accountability for credit risk of structured trade finance customers and ensures a continuous strategic dialogue with clients and support professionals to   deliver quality service;
3. Maximizes returns by cross-selling the Bank’s entire products including a secondary role to support Project and Infrastructure Department and the Fund Management Division among other products lines for the Bank;
4. Produces periodic technical and financial progress reports on trade finance facilities under his/ her supervision;
5. Undertakes periodic sector/ country policy reviews and other market intelligence studies.

Job Specifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Economics or Banking. A Masters’ degree in related discipline will have added advantage;
A minimum of 5- 8 years of professional job-related experience in a commercial / development banking or financial institution environment;
A comprehensive knowledge of structured trade and commodity finance products with strong credit appraisal/ analytical skills;
Demonstrable knowledge and experience of transactional and structural risks in financing including credit risks (bank/ corporate), country risk, operational risk, performance risk etc.
Proven organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to build partnerships and deliver results;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Proficient in the use of ERP systems particularly SAP and MS office applications;
Fluent in either English or French. Working knowledge of the other language shall be an added advantage.
