PTA BANK PRINCIPAL INVESTMENTS OFFICER


Job Summary:
Reporting to, and working closely with, the Director for Strategic Business Initiatives, the Principal Investments Officer is responsible for identifying, appraising, negotiating and monitoring investments in accordance with approved PTA Bank investment strategy and guidelines. The Officer also participates in due diligence and negotiations for direct investments and prepares supervision reports, including portfolio performance analyses in comparison with approved benchmarks;
Job Specifications:
1. Identify, appraise and negotiate loans and investments through special purpose funds or directly in other financial institutions or corporates;
2. Undertake due diligence of potential fund investments; participate in the structuring, negotiating and execution of deals;
3. Track and monitor compliance ofand propose courses of action in the event of non -compliance;
4. Analyse corporate financial data and other industry information to identify and monitor issues that may affect investments and recommend actions where    necessary;
5. Conduct market studies and help develop a pipeline of potential fund loans and investments; perform research to determine the attractiveness of funds, define future trends and innovations on the equity markets;
6. Develop an understanding of the target countries and institutions, provide market intelligence, and develop strong business networks;7. Prepare investment review materials and presentations to investment committees to obtain investment approval and negotiate fund documentation;
8. Monitor projects and draft monitoring reports on a regular basis;
9. Devise appropriate incentive and remuneration structures, exit strategies and control mechanisms;
10. Undertaking any other assignments as may be delegated by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Banking, Finance or Economics.
Specialized training in due diligence and financial products.
Experience:
1. A minimum of 8 years of professional experience and proven track record in development finance, especially PPS and portfolio management;
2. A comprehensive knowledge of financial instruments, equity products and risk management concepts;
3. Experience in both developed and emerging markets would be an advantage.
Competencies:
1. Strong analytical, financial modelling and investment evaluation skills;
2. Familiarity in the use of enterprise resource planning systems such SAP and spread sheets;
3. Excellent organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision making skills;
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal, presentation and facilitation skills with ability to work in a multi-cultural setting with proven networking and relationship management expertise;
5. Team building and leadership skills;
6. Fluent in either English or French. Working knowledge of the other language shall be an added advantage.
