Safina Women Association (SAWA)
is a charitable, membership and not-for-profit organisation founded in 1996. It
became officially registered by the government of Tanzania as NGO in 1998 (ref. NO
9351) under the Society Ordinance of 19954 Rules 5. SAWA’s mission is to make
sure that local communities work together and collaborate with the Local
Government and other stakeholders to promote the well-being of women and
children issues. SAWA operates in Morogoro region and its offices located at
Kigurunyembe suburbs, along Old Dar es salaam Road opposite to Kola Hill Hotel
on the Northeast. SAWA has obtained funds from CARE International to implement
a one-year complementary project namely Study and Play initiative.
Study and Play initiative is a
project funded by Austria Ministry of sports through CARE International
Tanzania. The project aims at increasing educational opportunities for boys and
girls in four pastoralist communities (Mela, Lubungo, Kimambilka, and Mwenge)
in Mvomero District through sports. SAWA in partnership with CARE International
invites applications from suitable, qualified and experienced person to fill
the following vacancy.
Position: Project Officer-Sports (8months)

Job
Description:
·
Training
of teachers and volunteers in sports and
games
·
Oversee the proper implementation of the sport
project in collaboration with other team members.
·
Responsible for assisting the project
coordinator in project designing, planning, budget preparation, reporting and
learning.
·
Maintain effective working relationship with
other staff, impact groups, key government partners and NGOs working in the
same Geographical areas.
·
Mobilizing local communities, girls and boys to
participate in sports activities
·
Strengthening sports, non sports and social networks
and effectively implementing activities designed to use sports for empowerment
and developing leadership skills among youth, especially girls.
·
Monitor,
assess and document learning, experience and impact.
·
Providing
evidence, findings, beneficiaries’ testimonies and interesting and success stories
for the project
Qualifications
- Bachelor
degree or Equivalent in physical education, social sciences, or related
field
- Training
and facilitation skills in sports and games
- Knowledge and understanding of gender analysis in rural
communities
- Computer
skills (Microsoft Office Package)
- Good
monitoring skills
- Proficient
oral and written skills in English and Kiswahili
·
Solid report-writing skills
·
At least 2 years experience working in community
development initiatives focusing on girl’s empowerment through sports and games
- Motorcycle
driving skills and driving license
