Portuguese Translator in Mozambique

Scope of Work for translation of Protocol, Survey Tools and Consent Forms into Portuguese

Background:

With funding from USAID/Mozambique MEASURE Evaluation/Futures Group will conduct a household survey in Mozambique to:

1. Document what services vulnerable children receive through the PCC program; and
2. Assess the wellbeing of OVC households and vulnerable children served by the PCC project.

Futures Group/MEASURE Evaluation is seeking a consultant based in Mozambique to translate the research protocol and accompanying instruments from English into Portuguese. The translator will work in coordination with MEASURE Evaluation’s Research Coordinator based in Mozambique and with the research team located in the United States.

Scope of Work:
The consultant will be responsible for the following Scope of Work:

1. Translate the protocol into Portuguese, including the following questionnaires and consent/assent forms:
   • Questionnaire for Caregivers
   • Questionnaire for Children 0-9 (Caregiver as respondent)
   • Questionnaire for Children 10-17 (Child as respondent)
   • Consent Form Adult and Parental Cognitive Interviews
   • Assent Form Child Cognitive Interviews
   • Consent Form Adult and Parental Household Survey
   • Assent Form Child Household Survey

Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years translation experience from English to Portuguese
• Previous experience translating data collection instruments highly desired
• Proven track record of completing translations accurately
• Proven track record in submitting deliverables on time

Deliverables Deadline (Approximate)

1 Translate protocol and Portuguese versions of child, caregiver, and household well-being program evaluation tools and consent/assent forms May 1st, 2013
3 Final translated versions of Portuguese versions May10th, 2013
