The State Key Laboratory of Crop Genetics and Germplasm Enhancement (SKLCGGE) was established in 2003 at Nanjing Agricultural University. It is developed from the Key Open Laboratory of Crop Genetics and Germplasm Enhancement jointly operated by Nanjing Agricultural University and the Ministry of Education and the National Center for Soybean Improvement. It incorporates such State Key disciplines as crop genetics and breeding, vegetable science, and agricultural resources and environment. The Laboratory officially was opened in 2003, after accredited by an expert panel in September 2001, approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) in the following month, and passed the inspection and evaluation by MOST expert panel in August 2003.
