Conflict Analyst (Environment, Climate and Natural Resources) . Ethiopia

Under the overall direction of the Director, the successful candidate will work under the supervision of pre-existing Conflict Analysts and be responsible for quality controlling analysis throughout the Mechanism; generating original; designing and/or recommending appropriate response options in conflict early warning & response; and in the management and resolution of violent conflict. In liaison with other Analysts, from throughout the Mechanism, the successful candidate shall be responsible for developing credible early warning and response options to violent conflict risks arising from environmental, climatic and natural resource management factors; engage in joint programming with the IGAD drought resilience efforts, and the push to produce joint products with the IGAD Climate Predictions Centre. This calls for a solid grounding in linking violent conflict and peace building to environmental and climatic contexts.
