AusAID Aid Program Managers

Position Description:

The Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) manages the Australian Government’s overseas aid program to contribute to the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals. Australia is a growing donor in Africa, with a focus on food security, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, mining governance and human resource development.

AusAID seeks to recruit two exceptional and experienced individuals as Program Managers for the Australian aid program in East Africa.

Key responsibilities:

Administer complex projects including monitoring and reporting on project performance, providing guidance and addressing project issues as well as ensuring project administration;

Support relationships with counterparts and key stakeholders such as senior partner government officials, other donors and stakeholders;

Manage assigned contracts and program finances including preparing financial estimates, budgets, analyzing and monitoring expenditure activities;

Prepare high quality documents including policy papers and briefing material for Ministers, High Commissioner and senior aid officials.

Key Qualifications and Experience

A relevant undergraduate degree.

A minimum of 6 years relevant experience in aid program management in a national or international development or humanitarian organisation and/or experience working within the civil service.

Experience in humanitarian assistance; food security, including social protection; and governance, particularly in Kenya, is preferred.

Excellent written and spoken English and excellent communication and networking skills.

Strong analytical skills and the capacity to think strategically and solve problems.

Willingness to work non-routine hours and travel as required.
