African Child Policy Forum Executive Director Job

The African Child Policy Forum (ACPF) is a leading, independent pan-African centre of policy research and dialogue on the African child. It aims to provide a platform for dialogue; contribute to improved knowledge of the problems facing children in Africa; identify policy options; and strengthen the capacity of governments and NGOs to develop and implement effective pro-child policies and programmes.

ACPF is seeking to recruit a senior executive for the position of the Executive Director (ED) who would be responsible for leading, coordinating, supporting, and managing the work of ACPF. The ED will represent, promote and raise the profile of the organisation. The ED will also implement the organisation's programme of work and business plan and ensure and strengthen its resource and financial base, as well as the decisions of its International Board of Trustees and Administrative Council. The ED will manage the ACPF Secretariat team and provide leadership in the achievement of the organisation's mission while ensuring compliance with the organisation's policies, procedures and guidelines.

This is a high profile international position, based at the ACPF headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, which involves interaction with leading African, international and civil society executives, thinkers and experts in the child rights area.

The successful candidate should at least have an advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Law, Economics, International Relations, Government, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Policy, Social Development, Children's Rights, or other related disciplines. The candidate should have a minimum of 15 (fifteen) years of progressively responsible and relevant professional work experience. The candidate should also have work experience in programme/project management; building strategic alliances and partnerships and resource mobilisation, ideally in an African country and with relevant field work exposure. The candidate should possess a demonstrated capacity in leading, managing, motivating and developing a multi-disciplinary and a multi-cultural team.
