Period of Service: Six years (non-renewable/part time)
The Judicial Service Commission is mandated to appoint the Members of the Tribunal necessary for the proper functioning of the Tribunal.
The Member shall hold office for a non-renewable term of six years and shall serve on a part-time basis.
The Member shall not be a member of the Public Service and not be an active participant in the activities of a Political Party.
Specifically, the responsibilities will be to:
- Drive the Tribunal’s vision and mission through the implementation of its Programmes and Plans;
- Mobilize and manage the resources of the Tribunal to achieve its core mandate;
- Provide requisite leadership to ensure the Tribunal attains a high level of competitiveness and ethical standards in its entire programmes.
- Preside over all the proceedings where he/she is present in person with unlimited geographical and pecuniary jurisdiction on matters of disputes;
- Participate in hearing and determination of all disputes which come before the full bench;
- Enter judgments in default of appearance;
- Determine and pronounce upon any point of law arising in the course of proceedings before the Tribunal;
- Approve, sign, issue and certify orders, decrees and certificates of costs, copies of proceedings and warrants of attachments for execution of Court decrees and orders; and
- Write and pronounce awards, judgments, orders, rulings and decrees issued by the Tribunal.
Requirements for appointment:
- Be a citizen of the Republic of Kenya;
- Hold a degree in Law, Management, Administration or other Social Sciences, from a University recognized in Kenya;
- Have at least ten (10) years experience at Management level; and
- Meets the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya.

- Detailed and updated Curriculum Vitae with telephone, e-mail and other contacts of three (3) referees who must be familiar with the applicant’s previous work experience.
- Certified copies of certificates, testimonials and professional certificates and academic transcripts.
- Applicants are also required to forward one (1) hard copy of the completed Employment Application Form including all the attachments cited above.
