The Ministry of East African Community (MINEAC) would like to recruit competentpermanent staff as follows:
Professional in Charge of Meteorology And Environment Management
- Coordinate activities related to formulation and setting up and harmonization of environmental regulations and standards.
- Coordinate the development of regional programs for prevention and control of pollutants including hazardous substances and wastes;
- Prepare national reports on meteorology and environment and submit to relevant authorities;
- Disseminate regional data and reports on meteorology and environment to relevant authorities and stakeholders
- Follow up on reported findings by EAC fora to ensure issues identified are being addressed at National level;
- Prepare, Facilitate and Assist in the development and modification of existing environmental and meteorological regulations
- Prepare, facilitate and report on regional meetings, trainings and conferences related to environment and climate;
- Participates in the development and implementation of plans and programs to preserve environmental resources and to provide public environmental protection;
- Develop, maintain and update a database of national and international environmental regulations and standards;
- Advise on Multilateral Environmental Agreements to be adopted by the country and the EAC;
- Coordinate the preparation of regional emergency response procedures, to spills or releases of chemicals and pollutants, some of which may be hazardous substances;
- Provides of timely quality information and technical advice on climate issues and policies ;
- Draft briefing notes, policy and discussion papers and prepare presentations on meteorology related matters;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Minister or by the Permanent Secretary;
- Report all activities to the Director of Economic, Infrastructures and Productive Sector.
Qualifications
Masters Degree of Science in Meteorology, Environmental Studies or Bachelors Degree of Science in Meteorology, Environmental Studies or any other related field with 2 years working experience.
