Professional in Charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Security
- Coordinate activities related to agricultural and food security policy, strengthening post-harvest systems, improving market access and linkages to smallholders, expanding rural employment generation, and guiding investments in marketing infrastructure
- Establish and maintain productive and positive relationships with, business alliance partners, and implementing partners;
- Supports activities within the agriculture sector by reviewing and analyzing data; developing strategies, analytical models, and methodologies; and providing assistance and advice on agricultural development issues;
- Oversee, manage, and evaluate agricultural development policies and program activities in program areas such as agricultural economics and policy, agribusiness, natural resource planning and management, agricultural institutional capacity building, and agricultural research management;
- Promote the cooperation with the EAC Secretariat and other Partner States in agricultural research and development;
- To follow up on Council Decisions data base and develop a Matrix of Implementation on regular basis;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Minister or by the Permanent Secretary;
- Report all activities to the Director of Economic, Infrastructures and Productive Sector.
Masters Degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business, Rural Development or Bachelors Degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Business, Rural Development or any other related field with 2 years working experience.
Significant understanding of the principles of development economics and their relevance to agriculture and food security policy.
