Deputy Chief of Party, Programme of Stabilisation and Community Reintegration in Eastern DRC (PSCRP)
Based: The position is based in Goma, North Kivu, where it is located in the MSI office
Contract: 3 Months contract – August 1st – October 31st 2011
International Alert is recruiting an experienced project manager for three months to help oversee the final three months of a large and complex community-level reintegration and reconstruction project in Eastern DRC. We invite expressions of interest from candidates with a strong track-record in:
- ensuring efficient and effective project operations
- ensuring contract compliance (experience with USAID sub-contracts would be a particular advantage)
- negotiating effective working relationships within and between collaborating organisations
The chosen candidate will take overall responsibility for the successful implementation of Alert’s component of the project. This involves supervising around 15 staff, ensuring the proper implementation of agreed workplans between August and October 2011, and maintaining fruitful relations with other stakeholders including the consortium leader. The appointee will take responsibility for narrative and financial reporting of project activities and for ensuring compliance with national legislation, donor requirements and International Alert’s human resources, financial management and security policies. Documentation of project activities, impact and lessons learned will be a key part of the appointee’s role.
Spoken and written fluency in French, and good working knowledge of English, are both essential, as is experience of living and working in fragile, complex and difficult environments. The post will be based in Goma, with frequent travel to Bukavu and within North and South Kivu. Housing will be provided, as will return flights if appropriate.
