This is a new post at International Alert, designed to lead a portfolio of activities working with different private sector representatives on dialogue and advocacy activities to promote national reconciliation and peaceful development in Uganda. The Business and Peace Project Manager will have a talent for leading sensitive dialogue processes, with a strong flair for facilitation. Reporting to the Country Manager and working closely with other colleagues to conceptualise and manage relevant processes, the post holder will develop relationships with businesspeople ranging from small traders to top industry figures; iteratively evolve the strategy for this project; and play a lead role in facilitating relevant dialogue sessions.
Educated to degree level, with a highly astute and reflective outlook, the successful candidate will have experience of facilitating dialogue and network processes, as well as an excellent knowledge of the private sector, including different associations, sectors, challenges and opportunities faced by business good understanding of the private sector; as well as and peace and conflict dynamics in Uganda. S/he will also have a strong gasp of project management at an NGO and an ability to work independently to deliver results, including through documentation of impact.
The posts will be based in Kampala, and involve frequent travel within and occasionally outside Uganda.
