REPORTS TO : DIRECTOR ECONOMIC REGULATION
JOB PURPOSE:
To develop and update sector plans, monitor the compli¬ance of licensees with regard to license conditions, formu¬late and conduce research of policy relevance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Carry-out energy planning including demand and supply forecasts and advise on optimal projects in generation, transmission and distribution.
• Develop appropriate benchmarks for economic regulation of licensees.
• Participate in the regular monitoring of the sector in collaboration with the technical regulation department with respect to the progress on sector plans.
• Produce monitoring and evaluation reports related to commercial and economic aspects of the licensees and the overall sector.
• Initiate and conduct policy oriented research and follow up on implementation of the recommendations.
• Initiate collaboration with other institutions in areas of research that foster the development of the electricity sector.
• Provide support to the pricing and tariff review process.
• Participate in preparation of the sector performance reports.
• Carry-out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications:
A Masters degree in Economics, Financial Economics. Quantitative Economics or Econometrics with a relevant first degree in Economics. Finance, Financial Economic!, Econometrics or Quantitative Economics.
Experience:
• At least 5 years of relevant experience with demonstratable research and econometric modelling experience in a busy organization.
Age:
• Between 30 and 40 years Salary and benefits
