South Nyanza Sugar Company Limited, a key player in the sugar industry in Kenya wishes to enhance its human capital base by filling the following senior management position with talented and qualified Kenyan citizens:-

Reporting to Managing Director, the Head of Procurement will be responsible for;

• Planning and coordination of the entire Procurement function
• Spearheading review/formulation and implementation of procurement polices and work procedure
• Formulating and implementing procurement policies and procedures for effective management of procurement services in the organization.
• Providing technical support on matters relating to procurement in accordance with statutory requirements and procedures and best practice
• Ensuring delivery, storage and timely distribution of goods and services to other user departments
• Liaising with respective user departments in preparing and implementing the organization’s Procurement and Disposal plan in order to realize the set corporate objectives
• Developing strategies to improve supply chain performance, On – time delivery, overall quality, waste and cost reduction, including supplier’s evaluation
• Ensuring goods and services are ordered as per the required specifications and within the acceptable lead time
• Keeping track and leveraging current market trends, procurement regulations and advising management and board of directors accordingly
• Coordinating advertisement distribution and disposal committees
• Overseeing effective functioning of tender, procurement, inspection and disposal committees
• Coordinating preparation of tender documents
• Management of procurement records

Person specifications

• Degree in Business related field with minimum five years relevant work experience which must have been gained at managerial level in a large and busy industrial or manufacturing concern
• Post graduate diploma in purchasing and supplies
• Full member of CIPS or KISM
• In – depth understanding of Public Procurement Procedures and regulations 2006 as contained in the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2005 and international tendering/supplies management practice
• High integrity and good interpersonal and communication skills
• IT proficient
• Minimum age 30 years
