We are seeking to strengthen our support in the Risk & Quality function within the Assurance line of service by recruiting a highly motivated individual for the position of a Regional Assurance Risk & Quality Manager.
Main Purpose
Reporting to the Regional Assurance Risk and Quality Director, the main purpose of this role is to support the assurance practices in Kenya, Mauritius, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia in Risk Management and Compliance by ensuring effective systems, processes and resources for a robust quality management system.
He / She will be expected to support the Assurance Leaders and Risk Management partners in the 6 countries in the following areas:
•Assurance risk management
•Compliance with PwC network standards
•Compliance with local and relevant global regulatory matters
•Promote the firms values and code of conduct
Based in Kenya, the role involves up to 40% of travel time.
Roles & Responsibilities
• Support the Country Assurance Leaders (CALs) and Country Risk Management Partners (CRMPs) in the identification and documentation of risks facing the assurance practices;• Support the CALs and CRMPs in preparing robust R&Q plans to address the risks identified and to ensure ongoing compliance with PwC network standards, applicable professional standards and legal and regulatory requirements;
• To document the assurance quality management system (i.e. key risks, key controls and the related policies and processes);
• Continuously monitor the implementation of the R&Q plans and be a consultant to the business on R&Q matters;
• Prepare a plan for compliance reviews and monitor its implementation;
• Support the assurance practices in preparing for and during the execution of compliance reviews;
• Consider the results of compliance reviews, support the CALs and CRMPs in the identification of root causes of adverse findings and recommend remedial actions to be included in the quality improvement plan to address non-compliance;
• Continuously monitor the implementation of the remedial actions in the quality improvement plans;
• Develop and facilitate delivery of R&Q training;
• Disseminate PwC network standards and develop standards/ guidance to respond to specific local circumstances;
• Communicate developments with an R&Q impact to the assurance practices;
• Prepare reports on a periodic basis on the R&Q activities for the Assurance leadership.
Skills & Competencies
• Substantial experience in a related business environment preferably in roles such as external audit, internal audit and risk management;• Good understanding of importance of Risk Management and ability to conceptualise support for compliance;
• Demonstrable strategic thinking skills and experience operating at a strategic level;
• Ability to lead by example, manage, motivate and develop staff;
• Good working knowledge of information systems;
• High level of tact and diplomacy, and the ability to use appropriate styles and methods of communication to ensure a professional yet personal customer service;
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discreet and professional manner;
• Ability to build effective working relationships with others, at all levels of the organization;
• Ability to organize multiple tasks, prioritise and delegate appropriately;
• Proven administrative experience and excellent organisational skills combined with the ability to develop improve and maintain administrative systems;
• Proven ability to remain calm, focused and organised and to deliver results on time when under pressure and with rapidly changing circumstances;
• Decision-making skills and reporting on complex issues;
• Excellent written and spoken English;
• Excellent interpersonal and team-handling skills;
• Experience of working independently, as well as in a team environment;
• A commitment to and understanding of the principles relating to the firm’s values and aims.
Requirements
Educational qualifications• University degree in Business Management, or a related field from a recognised institution. Legal knowledge would be an added advantage;
• Professional accounting qualification – CPA, ACCA or other relevant risk management qualifications.
