Democracy International (DI) is a young, dynamic, internationally operating non-governmental organisation fighting for more democracy on the regional, national and especially on the transnational level. We are convinced that empowering citizens is essential to solve the big challenges of the 21st century. Therefore we campaign and lobby for better electoral laws, for participatory and direct democracy. Furthermore we conduct research together with partners to find ways to make transnational institutions more democratic and we advise activists in different countries.
Short Description:
For our campaign team in Cologne we search a young junior campaign manager who loves to work with us in the stimulating and inspiring atmosphere of a high performance core team. Developing strategies, organising campaigns, communicating internally and externally in order to fight for more democracy (particularly participatory forms) by raising awareness and conducting irritating, astonishing high-impact publicity actions. Do you have creative ideas, endurance and a passion for democracy? Apply! We are waiting for you!
Background Information:
The campaign unit of Democracy International has a new structure and will be expanded in the coming months and years into a team, which is able to run campaigns in Europe and other continents. We cooperate very closely with national member organisations and other partners for planning and execution of campaign across countries. In the past, DI ran successful campaigns for the implementation of the European Citizen's Initiative (ECI), for referenda about the outcome of the last convention and others. In the future we continue to lay a particular focus on democracy in the EU, while at the same time running campaigns on other continents.
Currently we are planning a Europe-wide campaign for a more democratic EU by demanding a new European convention according to Art. 48 of the Lisbon Treaty. This campaign will be conducted together with many partner organisations in all EU member states.
