WomenCraft Social Enterprise is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated National Social Impact Manager who will provide guidance to its staff and artisans and will continue to strengthen the operations of the enterprise.
WomenCraft’s Mission WomenCraft is a community driven social enterprise that connects talented rural East African artisans with regional and international fair-trade markets. WomenCraft’s members create high-quality handcrafted products that preserve local traditions and incorporate environmentally-sustainable local materials. WomenCraft pays its members fair wages and uses its profits to provide services to its members, their families and their communities. Members also build business acumen and gain practical life skills so that they can eventually take ownership of the enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities: 1) Plan and Execute Enterprise Operations • Plan, organize, implement, monitor and report on all of WomenCraft’s social impact projects in the areas of health, education and community development.
• Conduct, arrange and attend meetings with appropriate village officials, Diocese officials, local chairpersons or representatives to maintain WomenCraft’s links with the community; • Establish contact with church market consumers for WomenCraft products, such as local and/or international missionaries, church affiliates and church staff; • Interpret for WomenCraft, oral and written, in: English, Kiswahili, Kirundi, Kihangaza, and Kinyarwanda.

2) Manage WomenCraft’s Social Impact Projects • Develop a project plan and schedule for counseling with verifiable indicators; • Conduct counseling/mediation sessions in the artisan communities as necessary; • Evaluate effectiveness of current social impact projects, and continue to seek new opportunities to reach out to WomenCraft’s beneficiaries; • Research, write and submit project reports to the Advisory Board; • Use measurable indicators to share the social impact and community work being done by WomenCraft with all external audiences; • Work together with international interns to improve efficacy of social impact projects.
3) Manage the Kagera Scholarship Fund • Review KSF activities and policies and introduce quantifiable indicators; • Utilize KSF Sops to select students, award scholarships, issue scholarship funding and document the process and payments; • Collect student applications, profiles, photos and letters and send to KSF coordinators; • Interview, select and hire assistant teachers, documenting the process and payments; • Officially visit scholarship schools and students quarterly, on topics specified in SOPs, and identify issues with students and KSF management; • Continually monitor project, looking for ways to strengthen the academic potential of the students and the relationship between students and Hosanna church members; • Review program and issue 6-month reports that address indicators.
Qualifications: • Tanzanian/East African Nationals only eligible to apply; • Able to commit to living in Ngara – a rural area of Tanzania – for at least 3 years; • Extensive experience working with refugee-impacted women; • Experience in counseling/mediation; • Fluent in English and Kiswahili; Kihangaza, Kirundi and Kinyarwanda preferred; • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office suite; • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; • Proven ability to train in a multi-cultural and diverse team; • Experience with project planning, administration and management; • Experience in community outreach and women’s socio-economic development; • Ability to conceive big ideas while still focusing on the details necessary for their successful implementation.
Job Length and Location: This is a full-time position based in Ngara district, Kagera region, Tanzania, East Africa. The contract is one-year, renewable. This position reports to WomenCraft’s Director.
Compensation: Take home pay of 290,000 Tsh per month, plus benefits
