WomenCraft Social Enterprise is seeking a dynamic and highly motivated National Logistics Manager who will provide guidance to its staff and artisans and will continue to strengthen the operations of the enterprise.
WomenCraft’s Mission WomenCraft is a community driven social enterprise that connects talented rural East African artisans with regional and international fair-trade markets. WomenCraft’s members create high-quality handcrafted products that preserve local traditions and incorporate environmentally-sustainable local materials. WomenCraft pays its members fair wages and uses its profits to provide services to its members, their families and their communities. Members also build business acumen and gain practical life skills so that they can eventually take ownership of the enterprise.
Primary Responsibilities: 1) Plan and Execute Enterprise Operations • Continually look for improvements in efficiency: ensure operations run efficiently so that time and energy is rather spent towards the organizational mission; • Coordinate all product orders from packaging to shipping to customer follow-up; • Procure supplies within budget amounts as needed; • Develop relationships with suppliers to ensure highest quality product is received; • Collect/disburse raw materials and/or finished WomenCraft products according to the established protocol, maintaining accurate records of product collections; • Provide support to WomenCraft as needed, such as visiting producers, locating raw materials, collecting supplies and other materials; • Transport WomenCraft personnel, members and guests as requested;
2) Provide logistics support for financial systems • Streamline banking operations, eliminating unnecessary trips to the bank and minimize bank fees; • Organize all payment requisitions, receipts and other documents in a secure, efficient manner; • Participate in management, Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel trainings; • Train artisan financial assistant in basic financial systems.
3) Maintain the WomenCraft vehicle • Drive safely and responsibly at all times, never driving under the influence of alcohol and obeying all driving/traffic and parking rules and regulations; • Inspect vehicle prior to and after official WomenCraft travel; • Maintain vehicle in good mechanical order; • Maintain vehicle logbook, daily records of mileage and fuel consumption/costs; • Maintain cleanliness of vehicles, including daily cleaning inside and weekly (minimum) cleaning outside; • Maintain the vehicle’s service record and take car to garage when repairs and/or service is needed; • Use WomenCraft motorcycle whenever possible to minimize fuel costs.
Qualifications: • Tanzanian/East African Nationals eligible to apply; • Extensive experience in vehicle operation and maintenance; • Experience or training in procurement and supply chain logistics; • Experience in financial management and budgets; • Fluent in English and Kiswahili; some Kihangaza, Kirundi and Kinyarwanda preferred. • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office suite; • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills; • Proven ability to train in a multi-cultural and diverse team; • Experience with project planning, administration and management; • Experience in community outreach and women’s socio-economic development; • Ability to conceive big ideas while still focusing on the details necessary for their successful implementation.
Job Length and Location: This is a full-time position based in Ngara district, Kagera region, Tanzania, East Africa. The contract is one-year, renewable. This position reports to WomenCraft’s Director.
Compensation: Take home pay of 340,000 Tsh per month, plus benefits
