The positions: ILRI is recruiting a Civil and Grounds Maintenance Work Supervisor position in Addis Ababa who will be a member of Engineering and Maintenance Facilities Management unit within the Corporate Services department in ILRI.
Terms of Reference:
- Directs and supervises all civil work and grounds maintenance services at residences, office and recreational facilities.
- Implements regular preventive maintenance for structures; ensures systems are executed in a professional manner.
- Ensures scheduled maintenance, repair and improvement are very well coordinated with other teams.
- Reviews and evaluates current operating procedures and personnel practices and establishes procedures, practice and priorities in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
- Coordinates building and facility maintenance activities within the team and other team to obtain optimum production and utilization of personnel and equipment.
- Plans and presents the team’s daily work, schedules every morning to ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate staffing, space, materials and facilities for subsequent performance of duties.
- Assists the Engineering and Facilities Manager in preparing and administering the division budget; monitors budget accounts and expenditures and follows up budget expenditures; analyzes staffing and expenditures patterns; reviews requests for additional services; prepares contract specifications and negotiates and administers service and construction contract agreements for maintenance and alteration services.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
- University degree in civil engineering or related fields and five years experience. Or Diploma in civil engineering or related fields and ten years relevant experience.
Skills:
- Good command in the use of computer MS Office and a drawing software preferably auto-CAD.
Duty Station: Addis Ababa
Grade: 2C level 2
Minimum Base Salary: Br. 10,413.00 per month.
Terms of appointment: Initial appointment is (fixed term) for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding. The ILRI remuneration package for nationally recruited staff in Ethiopia includes very competitive salary and benefits such as life and medical insurance, offshore pension plan, etc.
The ILRI campus is set in a secure, attractive campus on the outskirts of Addis Ababa. Dining and sports facilities are located on site.
