London School of Economics and Political Science -The International Growth Centre (IGC)
Competitive salary from £48,931 per annum(Fixed term to 31st March 2017 with possibility of extension subject to funding)
The International Growth Centre (IGC) directs a global network of world-class researchers and policy experts in economics, political economy and related disciplines, and works closely with developing country governments to provide high-quality research and policy advice. Its mission is to promote sustainable growth in IGC partner countries in Africa and Asia. Based at LSE, and run in partnership with the University of Oxford, the IGC is initiated and funded by DFID.
As the IGC scales up its activities for the coming four years we are seeking an Evaluation and Communications Director to take the lead on monitoring, evaluating and disseminating research outputs and policy impact to a global audience. The post holder will also manage IGC’s annual London-, Africa- and Asia-based Growth Conferences and oversee other regional and country level events, as key components of the IGC Networking, Communications and Influencing Strategy.
Our current partner countries include Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, India, Liberia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Pakistan, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
Drawing on a solid understanding of the links between research and policy in work on economic development, and excellent skills in economics, the post holder will evaluate and document the impact of IGC projects on growth policy.
The successful candidate will also possess:
- An excellent understanding of the links between research and policy in work on economic development
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and an appreciation of communication challenges in a multi-cultural, multi-location and international development context
- Experience in building and maintaining large networks with policy makers, business leaders, private sector, external researchers and media.
This post will be a full time position based in the IGC Head Office located within LSE, in central London, though regular international travel will be required.
