AATF Product Stewardship Manager (PSM)

The African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) is driven by the vision of Prosperous farmers and a food secure Africa, enabled through AATF’s catalytic role in bringing innovative technologies to smallholder farmers.

Since its establishment in 2003, the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) has been addressing a critical challenge for agriculture in Sub-Saharan Africa: Access and Delivery of Technology.  AATF is meeting this challenge by building partnerships with both public and private sectors to access, adapt and deliver appropriate agricultural technologies for use by smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. These partnerships bring together the best academic, science and business expertise with experiences and indigenous knowledge of African farmers. AATF is about African farmers and linking them with practical, technology solutions.

The AATF is now seeking a Product Stewardship Manager (PSM) to assist and advise the Director of Technical Operations and work closely with the AATF Seed Systems Manager to facilitate the achievement of set targets. The PSM will develop and drive the implementation of Quality Management Systems for conventional and transgenic hybrids, design appropriate product stewardship strategies and plans to guide deployment of AATF products to farmers in target countries, and ensure timely engagement of relevant partners and provision of technical support for implementing stewardship practices.

Your dual experience with both conventional and transgenic products will be crucial. Your ability to work with teams in both public and private sector partners will be fundamental in order to provide effective support to program activities. You must be conversant with Seed laws and regulations, ISTA regulations and OECD requirements for varietal certification. You have a strong track record in planning, quality management and budgeting. You are goal driven and possess the ability to work with a sense of urgency in a multicultural and diverse environment.

You have at least a Master’s degree in agricultural or related sciences from a recognized University (or B.Sc. degree with substantial relevant experience), coupled with least 8 years’ experience and sound knowledge in product stewardship and management with reputed private sector seed company, preferably in Africa, and are fluent in English (verbal and written).
