The AU Strategic Plan in force for term 2009 - 2012 introduced the Institution and Capacity Building Programme (ICBP), an ambitious cross-cutting reform initiative which aims to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of the AU. One of its main principles is to adopt and promote extensively the results-based management approach for AU’s program and project design and operations and migrate from an activity-based to a results-based budgeting. This includes performance assessments of staff, improvement in planning methods as well as actual planning of multi-level programmes and projects.
In order to achieve the objectives, the Bureau of the Deputy Chairperson is planning a series of activities during 2012 and 2013, upon the support of its stakeholders and partners, highlighting various aspects of the programme. The Commission will also use other opportunities available to promote extensively the results based management approach for operations all across the Commission.
Your tasks
In detail you will be in charge of the following:
- Providing assistance for the coordination and monitoring of implementation activities according to established plans including following-up on administrative actions and issues related to project implementation
- Participation in ICBP projects evaluation including liaising with different organizational units to initiate requests
- Assistance in the development, implementation and evaluation of ICBP programmes and projects within the Deputy Chairperson’s initiatives. This comprises the review of relevant documents and reports, problem identification and accordingly suggestions for corrective actions
- Research, analyse and present basic information and data on projects under the ICBP
- Preparation of draft background papers, analysis, reports and inputs to publications
- Assistance in budget planning, preparation of monitoring checklists, review of programme project development
- Mission or field work in support of above activities, e.g. administrative, operational and control tasks for programme and project activities
