National Medical Stores is an autonomous Corporation that was estab­lished by an Act of Parliament 1993. Our mandate is to procure, store and distribute medicines and other medical supplies to public health facilities Our vision is “A POPULATION WITH ADEQUATE AND ACCES­SIBLE QUALITY MEDICINES AND MEDICAL SUPPLIES” Our Mission is “To effectively and efficiently supply essential medicines and Medical Supplies to Public Health Facilities in Uganda.” We are now looking for competent persons who possess appropriate skills, knowledge and right attitude to till vacant positions which have arisen as a result of our expanded mandate. Applications are now in­vited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant posts within the Corporation. NMS 2012/07: ESTATES OFFICER Job Title: Estates Officer Scale: NMS4U Reporting to: Head of Human Resource and Support Services. Location of the job: Entebbe Purpose of the job: To perform maintenance of building structures, power plants, water and sewage systems, waste and disposal units, and developing architectural structures. He or She will be in charge of the Occupa­tional Healthy Safety and Environment matters of the Corporation. 2.0 KEY RESULT AREAS OF ESTATES OFFICER. To perform maintenance of building structures, power plants, water and sewage systems, waste and disposal units, and developing architectural structures. Inspect project sites to monitor progress and ensure conformance to the design specifications and standards. Prepare bids for tenders related to civil engineering Investigate and report on complaints on hazardous waste manage­ment. To develop, implement corporation Occupational Health and Safe­ty policy, programmes and procedures To establish best proposals for operation of Occupational Health and Safety and training To increase health and Safety awareness at all levels within the Corporation. To investigate and report on all serious/critical personal injury ac­cidents occurring to employees of NMS. To supervise preparation of structural designs and construction works undertaken by NMS.

Requirement: QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE An Honour's degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized University A qualification in Occupational Health and Safety and Environment is an added advantage. Two years experience in civil Engineering.
