The purpose of the role is to build, develop a project team and lead the strategy to consolidate AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) project systems and processes ensuring consistency and best practice across the region. The role will be to oversee all brownfield and greenfield projects from approval to commissioning and handover. Furthermore the role will act as second in command to the Senior Vice President Projects and is tasked with realizing intrinsic value for all major capital deployment across the Region's growth project portfolio. This role requires an experienced manager in large complex multidiscipline construction projects. The vacancy will have a strategic interface with the Executive Committee and AGA's Investment Committee.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Develop an understanding of the current strategy, systems and processes in place for project delivery. Review and recommend areas for improvement.
- Implement new systems and processes to increase the function capability and ensure it is sustainable in the future.
- Recruit, lead and manage the implementation team and ensure that they are best equipped to perform their roles.
- Demonstrate strong leadership and ensure cohesion within the team.
- Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of project systems and documentation.
- Agree on clear, demanding and achievable objectives to enable delivery of projects on time and on budget. Be able to manage performance to deliver optimum results.
- Create and manage budgets ensuring the availability of all budgets and forecasting information.
- Ensure correct planning, quality assurance and control systems exist to allow accurate monitoring of asset performance and costs to enable agreed targets to be met.
- Be totally committed to AngloGold Ashanti policies, driving these through all areas and activities and ensuring that these are fully enforced and are reflected in the manner in which all business is undertaken for safe, secure and healthy operations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A 3 year Bachelor's degree in mining or equivalent.
- A minimum of 10 years' experience managing large scale multidiscipline project portfolios.
- Experience in working for an owner or operator and able to manage investment scenarios and work with joint venture partners.
- Experience in implementing project strategy and developing project systems and processes.
- Experience in introducing new standards and systems in a large organisation and deliver sustainable outcomes.
- Experience in managing complex individual projects from concept through to commissioning and handover.
- Has worked in multi-cultural teams and has multi-site leadership experience.
- Experience in managing large mining projects.
- Worked in remote locations with an African enrolment (outside of South Africa)
- Experience in managing projects to the value of $100million and above.
