Christian Aid is looking for a Senior Programme Officer to manage an evidence-based Resilient Livelihoods programme at community, district and national level to inform and influence policy and practice for climate and disaster resilient development in Malawi. The postholder will provide technical guidance and support to local partner organisations engaged in the Resilient Livelihoods programme in Malawi, which is delivered jointly with ICCO.
The postholder will develop and scale up resilient livelihoods initiatives in Malawi, and play a key role in the implementation of a high quality climate change, disaster risk reduction and agriculture programme. The role works closely with the rest of the Malawi programme team, the Regional Emergency Manager and the London-based Humanitarian Division. The postholder will appraise, monitor and review projects in line with Christian Aid and donor requirements, develop new initiatives and liaise with external stakeholders to promote best practice and improve accountability.
Candidates must be educated to at least degree level in a development or agriculture related discipline and have substantial experience of international development work. Sound knowledge of climate change, disaster risk reduction and/or agriculture is a must, as is experience of programme management, advocacy, policy and strategy development and financial management. Knowledge of value chain development would be highly desirable.
