Regional Gender Media Officer Based in Cairo 6 month contract
We believe the Arab Spring brings the potential for prosperity and gender justice, placing women's voice at the heart of the social, economic and political agenda's of new democracies and government structures.
Oxfam has funded a project that aims to promote gender equality and women's voice within the Arab Spring.
Our goal through this project is to raise women’s voice and participation in governance through Oxfam to support women’s rights organisations in the Middle East and Maghreb region.
Our key programme components will be:
1) Media, advocacy and lobbying (nationally, regionally and globally) 2) Awareness raising and capacity building for women’s empowerment in the political arena, 3) Young female leadership development, 4) Regional learning, sharing of experiences and solidarity building.
Your role will be to generate high quality media coverage – local, regional, national and international - of Oxfam’s work and concerns on gender issues in the Arab World. Plus support media capacity building of partner organizations and alliances in the Arab region.
