Background
Oxfam GB is an international non-governmental organisation that has worked in Ethiopia since 1970s. Our mission is the relief of poverty, suffering and distress. Oxfam GB works in humanitarian relief and development work in nearly 70 countries around the world including nine countries in the Horn, East and central Africa region. In Ethiopia, Oxfam GB works with others to help poor women and men influence decisions that affect their lives, as well as working to protect the lives and livelihoods of people living in poverty. This role offers you a challenging and rewarding experience in programme management as well as an opportunity to work with teams making a real impact on poverty and suffering. We are looking for the right person to head our programmes in Ethiopia as a business partner to ensure quality programme delivery.
The Role
Reporting to the Country Director, you will provide strong and strategic leadership to the programme. As a member of the senior management team (SMT) in Ethiopia, you will be required to develop and implement long – term programme strategies and vision, plan and coordinate a broad spectrum of programmes or geographies. You will co-ordinate and supervise the operations of programme managers and guarantee timely and high quality programme delivery that is consistent with Oxfam’s values, mission and goals, aligning them with country priorities. The strategic relationships you will forge with high-level interlocutors including Oxfam International, its partners and other relief agencies will play a crucial part to your success in this role.
The Person
We are seeking for an exceptional leader with proven strategic programme management and implementation ability. You will certainly be sensitive to the complexities of working in Humanitarian and Development programmes within the Horn of East and Central African region and show commitment to Oxfam values and beliefs. This will be reflected in your approach to working with your team. You will have a full professional qualification in programme management and/or substantial programme management experience including monitoring and evaluation, programme quality, representation, fundraising and grant management.
