The Emergency Programme Manager will develop and manage emergency and disaster risk reduction programmes in Kenya in line with the Africa and Global Emergency Strategy and the CPE plan for the country. The post holder will develop and manage HelpAge programmes, advise and support partners/affiliates. He/she will also advocate to influence policies and programmes of the Government of Kenya and humanitarian organisations operating in the country (including UN agencies, international and national NGOs) to address the needs of older people.
The successful candidate will have knowledge and understanding of international humanitarian principles, programme design, monitoring and implementation, Disaster Risk Reduction approaches and technical understanding of at least one relevant emergency sector - protection, health and livelihoods. You will also have experience of proposal development, compiling and managing substantial multi-donor budgets as well as implementing donor and beneficiary accountability frameworks. Ability to travel at very short notice for extended periods to difficult environments, experience of managing cross functional teams and capacity to interrelate with people of different cultural backgrounds is essential for this role.
