The East African Community is a regional intergovernmental organization comprising the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Republic of Uganda with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who are citizens of East African Community Partner States (Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda) to apply for the following non established position tenable at East African Community Secretariat, Arusha, Tanzania.

Job reports to: Principal Agricultural Economist
Job Purpose:
To provide effective and efficient general programme management and technical support services for the smooth running of the Agriculture and Food Security Department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide general programme management and technical support services to the Agriculture and Food Security Department;
- Provide support in the implementation of USAID funded programmes including the EAC-USA Agreement on Trade Facilitation, Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS) and Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) signed in February 2015;
- Assist in documenting/report writing on projects and programmes (quarterly, semiannually and annually);
- Provide the overall logistical support in the planning, organization and facilitation of internal and external meetings, training courses, conferences, workshops and events in liaison with the relevant professional staff of the Agriculture and Food Security Department;
- Assist in preparation of calendar of activities for the Agriculture and Food Security Department; and
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Development Studies or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years in programme/project administration in the public or private sector. Experience in working in a similar position in any regional/international organization will be an added advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent written skills
- Excellent planning and time management skills
- Sound judgment and ability to pay attention to details
- Proficiency in office software applications, particularly word processing, spreadsheets, internet and PowerPoint
- Fluency in oral and written English.
Education Qualifications and Relevant Working Experience:
Education Qualifications
All candidates applying must have qualifications that are recognized by the relevant national accreditation body in their respective countries. This condition is applicable for locally and internationally attained qualifications.
Relevant Working Experience
Internship, training, apprenticeship and clerkship will not be considered as relevant work experience.
Terms and Conditions of Service:
The above position is non-established position tenable for an initial contract of one (1) year renewable subject to the performance and availability of funds.
